I want to move to....

I really don't like oklahoma. It attacks me with it's evil humidity, heat and worst yet, pollen. So I wanna move. Eventually. I still have to go through school and stuff but I would like to move out of this state and somewhere else. I have outrageous ideas about moving to another country and stuff but i'm trying to think of somewhere realistic.

I've thought about:

Colorado, I lived in Wyoming so I'm more familiar with that state seeing as if we wanted to do any type of shopping we'd have to drive 6 hrs to Denver.

Washington, I like snow and rain and mountains and stuff.

Canada, but this will be hard because of the whole immigrant thing.

And my recent want, Alaska! I don't know why but this is really enticing to me. I want to be a teacher and comparative from here to there it's way better pay. I like colder weather, heat just ugh xP And it's away from a lot of people.


SO TELL ME! Where would you want to end up that could be a realistic possibility for you? Or where I should go possibly that's not lame and hot and full of people :shifty:

I would move to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, Miami, or Seattle if given the chance. Outside of the US, I wouldn't mind settling down somewhere in Europe.

In colorado yah. Loveland had good shopping. Otherwise we could go to montana, or South dakota or Colorado. Or Utah if you were on the other side of the state. Nothing really IN wyoming.

If you like cold places that don't have a lot of people, just pick any random village in the midwest. There's hundreds of little towns with populations under 700! Of course then you have to leave town to get groceries and there are no shops except for the local pharmacy that doubles as a video rental store and the gas station. It's kind of hard to find a place not full of people that's also not lame.

I'd like it if my boyfriend and I could move back to my hometown in Texas. It'd be nice to live with him without living in Florida at the same time! Anywhere else where it doesn't snow is nice. Snow is fun and all, but I'm a terrible driver and I'd die on ice.

I want to stay within downstate New York. I've been away enough to know that it's the most comfortable place for me. I'd preferably like to live in Manhattan or in a cute area of Queens, but most towns in downstate NY work for me.

I'd suffer living in north Cali. but I'm outdoorsy. Other than that, Cali sucks. Oregon and Washington are nice. I live in South Carolina, in the upstate, and I like it there. It would be a little hot for you.

Have you considered Asheville, NC? Nice crisp mountain weather, supposed to be friendly. Plus you're not crazy far from Atlanta, Charlotte, or the beach.

I love the San Francisco Bay Area. When I first moved here from LA, I was super homesick. But then I grew accustomed to it. Then I grew to love it. And now I don't know which I love more, Los Angeles or San Francisco.

I know for sure that when I settle down for good, it'll most likely be in California. I can't imagine a better place to live. But I wouldn't mind living in a bunch of different places in the mean time. I like exploring.

I would wanna move some place warm year round like Hawaii or California, but then sometimes I can't handle humidity for long periods due to asthma. I would probably move in a Brownstone in Brooklyn if it's in New York. Bay Ridge is a nice area. Definitely not Manhattan if I can avoid it. I also like upstate New York, and Vermont even though the narrow dirt roads scare me. Connecticut seems nice too. Orrr Bridgewater, NJ up in the boonies where it looks like North Wales. Yeah I dunno.

When I was going to visit Oklahoma everyone told me the humidity was going to drive me nuts, but it didn't bother me at all. The only place I've been where I even noticed the humidity was Maui, but that was fine.

I would move to Tokyo. In a heartbeat. For, like, a year.

Then I would come back to Southern California. The very thought of living more than an easy car ride to the beach makes me feel like my soul is caving in. My soul. It's super tragic.

I like where I live right now. I live very close to the beach, reasonably close to the snowy mountains, weekend-trip close to Las Vegas or San Francisco, day-trip close to Los Angeles, daily-trip close to Disneyland, biking distance from a mall, Target, Trader Joe's, and a ton of antiques stores, and walking distance from a grocery store, post office, doctor's office, pharmacy, dry cleaner, gym, coffee shop, mechanic, two banks, liquor store, two salons, Subway, city hall, and the city library.

I feel like I can do anything. :hyper:

Which is a lot how I felt when I was in Tokyo. Except in Japan, where everything is better.

The reason why I love SoCal so much is because I feel like the world is at my finger tips. People talk about how shallow SoCal can be, but in reality, you can be anyone you want to be and do anything you want to do. Indie hipster? Tons of independent music and book stores, farmers markets, and vintage clothing stores. Crafty? Lots of amazing craft fairs, local crafters to buy and learn from, and an entire district in LA where you can buy fabric and decorating supplies. Super nerdy? You can hit up Comic con or catch Video Games Live or go to a fantasy themed masquerade ball. If I want to see some of the world's best photographs, I can just head over to the Annenburg Center. I can go snowboarding one day and the beach the next. I can go to a tattoo and porn convention during the day, and head over to Disneyland to catch the fireworks at night. And the food is some of the best in the world. Almost every cuisine is represented. I mean, there's even North Korean style restaurants. How crazy is that??

Plus you have the beautiful weather. Everything you could want. Except, yeah, there are a ton of people. One of my favorite day dreams is to zap people off the highway with my powerful people zapper of doom.

Aus isn't so bad except for smurfing everything trying to kill you 24/7. It gets smurfing old after the first 10 years or so.

I wouldn't mind moving up the coast, near uni. It's actually really nice up there, good blend of hinterland, city and beach. There's also potential for work, which is something to consider.

As for overseas -- Canada is probably most like home except it has snow and french people. I don't think I could go any more remote than I am now, but I don't want to go too suburban because I like having a yard.

But the most important thing for me is that, wherever I live, I have to have smurfing decent internet.

Sweden is lovely but my town is kind of that size where it's just big enough to not have any rural charm, and small enough to not have the convenience or job opportunities of a city. I wouldn't mind eventually settling down somewhere else in Sweden, but I would also love to find another place to broaden my perspective. Seattle or Cali appeals to me, US-wise. I wouldn't say no to a sweet house by the Mediterranean, either.

If I could move anywhere in the world I guess I would have to live somewhere like SoCal or Vancouver. Tokyo would be cool but well, Japan is super expensive to live in for most people so it's not good for a permanent basis and New Zealand is definitely on the list of places I would 100% move to, in particular I'd move to the vicinity of Auckland.

Realistic options for me? Well I live in South London and it's nice and all but I miss North London really. The idea of being more than a quick journey from my friends is really doing my head in. I like the way it used to be "Hey Steve, come hang out today!" and I could answer with "sure be there in 30 (minutes)" now it's like "hmm I can get there in 1 or 2 (hours) how long you got to hang out?" Otherwise I would possibly move to Essex near Braintree where my brother lives it's cheaper and nicer than London but lacks my friends.

I grew up in the Torrance/Lomita area and partially in Norwalk/Whittier area. I never lived more than 20 minutes from a beach. I could drive up to Big Bear and snowboard and then drive to the beach and surf in the same day if I wanted to. Any type of food from any cuture I could think of was never more than a 10 minute drive away. I never had the issue of not being able to find a movie, video game, or album (even though the internet has pretty much solved that problem for everyone anywhere now). Any type of subculter gathering or club you were interested in was right there and for the most part people were pretty laid back live and let live (even if they hated you), in public...for the most part. Not to mention so many great musical acts call California home. All this, and perfect weather. You never really realize just how awesome a place So Cal is until you go live in another state for a few years.

God damn I miss California.

Well other than the fact that you think it's full of Yankees (wrong side of the Mason/Dixon Line ;) ) it sounds exactly like what you'd want. Not too big, not too small. Nice mountain weather, but not fiercely cold. Little college-esque town, not terribly far from Atlanta, Charlotte, or Knoxville. Population under 80k, so not too many people. It's a fair ways from the beach, but you could drive it. Way the hell closer than Oklahoma. ugh. I've been TDY there. ugh.

If you insist on west coast, maybe Eugene, Oregon. :confused: As long as you don't mind hippies. You could go crazy smurfing cold, like Bar Harbor, Maine.

Since I only plan on working for a year or two before applying to law school, I would ideally like to stay in Miami, but I'm willing to move to Washington, D.C., New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, or Chicago. I don't think I'll ever leave Washington State, it's a good place to live in. Lived here most of my life. There's mountains, deserts, plains, snow, ocean, and a lot of greenery.. Sure does rain a lot but when it's Summertime the Sun always seems to shine.

In the future might move to California, that is only a possibility though.
