It's been awhile since I've ranted about how I was screwed out of the awesome music from the FFVIII Demo so let's do this. For those who don't know, some of the tracks featured in the FFVIII Demo featured some music that never appears in the official game and has never been officially released either. Besides the upbeat Prelude mix I love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN18HCnpl1U), the other track that got changed was the music playing when the party arrives in Dollet.

So which do you like better, the Demo version of the original game version?

The Landing (Final) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvhuIY8HcgE)

or

Attack on Dollet (Demo) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngkmdA0KvPM&feature=related)

That prelude is amazing, but I dont think it would have fitted with the mood of the game. Also I cant help hearing "Last Christmas" in my head at 2:53 of the prelude

As for the song used in the Dollet Mission I cant quite tell which I like better, they both would've fit the scene perfectly but I guess The Landing had the Liberi Fatali motif in it at 1:36 which ties it in with the rest of the game

Yeah either of the Dollet tracks are pretty good. I think the fact that the one they kept was always making noise added to the urgency.

I kind of dig the Prelude in a strange way. At first I hated it but then it got going and it was cooler.

Both of them are just alright to me. The final one was just a little more foreboding.

I never realized this. I always enjoyed the demo more than the beginning of FF8. And I think I like that music more than what was officially used. Most of it sounds more exciting and almost epic. Though they both have this weird midi sound to them a little, which I never noticed before. I always assumed they used full orchestras for the CD based games, but that might be a little naive. Nothing wrong with higher quality midi style sound I suppose. Still better than what was previously capable

And I suppose this is why I had FFX music that was never found in th game. I think I lost those tracks on my old computer, but they were from the demo of FFX (which I'm not even sure was released to the public) back in the days when they were showing off FFX with an overworld
