I was talking to my buddy and playing FF6A while not paying attention and repeatedly hitting 'a' during battle. I glance at my screen after a few seconds and I see large summons popping up on my screen and it took me a second to realize it was Crusader. My friend said he saw my jaw literally drop and asked me wtf was up. I told him I just saw the strongest summon on my screen wipe out my party while I was still in Narshe at the WOB. Of course that meant absolutely nothing to him (he doesn't play FF OMG LOSER) but it made me happy that a game I've been playing since my childhood can still surprise me. I'm just happy I saved a few minutes before this surprise....


I forgot to mention this obviously occured through Setzer's slot technique. After reading online I see it was triple bar that summons a random esper? I guess I haven't used Setzer enough to experience that, or I did at one point and just completely forgot =D

Yeah, Setzer is full of surprises. The first time I saw Bahamut was because of his Slots. I've never seen Joker's Doom or its non-party lethal variant.

Ive never gotten anything besides Flash and Lagomorph. It also took me a while to figure out GP Rain actually used my Gold

There is a way to manipulate the Slots command to make Setzer into a very different character. I think that he would be more widely used if the Slots command was used like this by the majority of the player base. I remember the tricks looking like they would be a little too much for me to do regularly. I think there's a guide about it up on GameFAQs. Imagine what he could accomplish if he simply had selectable abilities like Edgar or Sabin!

Oh, haha. It wasn't my intent to jack his name. I like Cyan a lot as a character, and I don't know why, but I always thought Sky Render sounded like a pretty sweet sword so I use this name on occasion.

I never trust Setzer's slots anywhere near enough to use them as anything but a novelty. I imagine that if I'd got Crusader it'd just put me off using them!

It is kind of nice that Lagomorph casts "Remedy" on all party members, but the game never informs you of this...

This topic is only a few months old so I'll respond.

It occurred to me right away that random stuff would be coming out of his abilities. A slot as a special ability should be your first clue.

The random nature makes it worse than other specials and magic in general. Did not rely on it much.
