View Full Version : Well, Captcha, I must not be human.

So I was trying to upload something for a friend earlier and the little Captcha thing popped up. It said that it was checking to see if I was human or not and had me type in some crazy looking code. My fingers went spastic on the keyboard and I messed up. No biggie.

ROUND TWO!

Yeah.... I don't even think the things that popped up for me to type were letters. It inspired a doodle from me but still -

Anyone else have issues with these?

There are some capchas that take a "best guess". Which is weird. I guess you'd have to be human to "come close" to the right answer. A computer would either be in a whole different ballpark or get it exactly right I suppose

You underestimate my flaily fingertips. LOL Also, sometimes the letters are like upside down and cut in half or written in Russian or something. I don't know. I can never read them without refreshing the dang thing twenty times.

Some of them you only have to type in one word. The other word you can type in something like "poopdeedoop" and it'll still be fine.

Captchas are the worst. Suck it up and deal with all the bots and spiders, assholes, this is not user friendly :argh:

There was a human-check that I liked somewhere.

It showed me 5 icons, and the text (displayed via an image) told me to drag one of them into a box next to it.

Like "click and drag the red plane into the square box"

It was quick and simple. Wonder why I haven't seen more of it, perhaps it was too easy to hax.

basically. Unless that test had sufficiently different types of tests and orientations of objects, a brute force program can get around it.

I don't mind them if you can actually READ THE FREAKING WORDS. So many of them I see lately are unnecessarily illegible.

Speaking of which, has anyone ever used the audio feature on it and found it useful? Everytime I've pressed it it just sounds like a bunch of scary third world people screaming into a metal tunnel.

CAPTCHAs suck balls. The should just ask me a simple arithmetic question via an image.

As far as I know, robots can't read pictures.

I don't think that applies here.

I remember there being some Captcha thing that was cute animals. Like it showed a few pictures of cute animals and you just wrote out what they were for the verification check. :3

What I don't understand is why the fuck the words or letters have to be so damn hard to read. I can't fucking understand them half the time.

Maybe I'm a robot guys

well, it's not just robots doing the breaking. It's also low-paid humans. Otherwise, Loony BoB's trick question in the registration page would leave us spammer free. It's the same concept as your math idea
