When I'm doing stuff around the house I pretty much always have the TV on in the background, and it's mostly news programs (and freaking court programs for some smurfing reason), so I passively ingest a lot of information throughout today.

Things I learned today: Kirstie Alley lost a shoe but it was okay, Lady Gaga fell down but she was okay, a student pilot bumped into a wall at a local airport, dolphins smurfing love cats, the Dodgers don't like it when their fans try and murder other fans, and serving your toddler a margarita in their sippy cup is frowned upon.

Things I did not learn today: Anything of any smurfing interest or importance.

Where do you get your news? Or are you totally smurfing over even trying to shift through all this bull:bou::bou::bou::bou: to get to something of any worth?

I don't have cable, so no FOX News for me (be sad for me). I usually browse Yahoo's top articles for the day, but most of the news I read is whatever Reddit deems important for the day.

We watch the news while we eat dinner. Our local reporters are so mean to each other. Somebody said something about being on their knees, and the anchor was like "ha-ha! You would know a thing or two about being on your knees." and I don't think it was just playful kidding around :|

I usually have the radio on the local news station, so that's where I get my news. Also traffic and weather on every eights! I rarely watch the news on the tv though. I don't see why when I get them on the radio or online. My brother, however, almost always have his tv on Fox News. I make fun of him for that.

I watch the channel 3 (CBS) news from 6:30-7am then from 7 to whenever I leave for work I watch the channel 12 news(fox44)!

Oh yeah, I listen to news on the radio too. I rarely listen to music, so it's mostly talk radio for me.

The only intake of news that I have is through CPR (Colorado Public Radio) and even then I rarely listen to. The amount of :bou::bou::bou::bou: that you need to wade through in order to get to anything of substance is depressing and stupid. Yahoo! "News" is horrible for the worst offender.

On the evenings when I'm on the internet I usually look at Yahoo, their stories are usually pretty light so it's decent for tired reading.

I get my news filtered through IRC, IM, talking to people IRL, and twitter. Everything else is clearly not important

My regular news sources are below. I check multiple times per day, and get email notifications of breaking stories from three or four different places.

Oh, and if something big is going down, I'll essentially go to any news site I can think of, even if I have to muddle through Google's attempt to translate Yupik into English.

I despise mainstream TV news and almost never watch it. I don't care for trying to plunge through mainstream media websites every day to find noteworthy things. I get most of my news from blogs or link aggregates. Or even Facebook, as my newsfeed turns into a political news aggregate every time something big happens, which is a consequence of knowing people in law school.

I read the Metro (a good free newspaper you get on buses etc) that fills me in on all the various political and social issues going on throughout the world. I tend to ignore the ones surrounding murders and rapes and violent crime purely because I find it annoying reading in depth about things which are depressing and yet never stop happening. Politics and disasters are things I always read about, and I read about half the sport, all the 'weird', about half the celebrity/music/TV stuff (depending on who/what it is) and various other things. Basically I read everything that isn't yet another rape/murder/stabbing in the streets of a random city.

I watch a bit of CNN and BBC when there is a big story going on such as the earthquake in Japan or the elections. I watch Sky Sports News when something big happens in the sporting world that I'm interested in, such as transfer deadline day or something.

I only read BBC Sport really, any real news gets sent to my phone and I have no idea how that happens. My hobby these days is visiting the Daily Mail website and having a look at the :bou::bou::bou::bou:e they're currently serving up, then if I'm feeling particularly masochistic, I read the comments.

News on TV can just be really depressing, though. A big part of it is unimportant, unrelevant and uninteresting. It's pretty sad how much the media actually control what we hear about and what we don't.

I love the Daily Mail comments.

I check the BBC News website several times a day as I find it's the best news site around. Also check the BBC Sport site, mainly for football stuff. I'll pop the BBC News Channel on when I get home if nobody's watching television and on my phone I'll check the Independent or (to a lesser extent) the Grauniad Fun fact: Latest news, comment and reviews from the Guardian | guardian.co.uk (http://www.grauniad.co.uk) redirects to the Guardian website. I used to listen to Radio 4 a lot and still do so occasionally. If I'm getting the train I'll buy a newspaper, but normally don't bother. I also religiously check Political Betting (http://www.politicalbetting.com) as I find that's good.
