Basically, post about a game that was made a decade or so ago and say how the way today's games are sold would have affected it. I'll start.

If Super Mario Bros. 3 were released today, the Tanooki Suit, Hammer Suit, P Wing and the second half of world 5 would be DLC. The two-player Mario Bros. minigame would be too; attempting to trigger it on the map without it unlocked would just trigger an error sound and a popup telling you to buy it. I'd imagine it would cost a pound/dollar/equivalent in points for the power-ups, a fiver for the second half of world 5 and a tenner for the Mario Bros. minigame. In addition, every time you used a new powerup, it would ask if you wanted to post it to Facebook.

FF7 would've come with the option to pay a small amount of real money to instantly have a gold chocobo once breeding became available.

That's the gist of it. Have fun and entertain one-another!

Going back a little further, the FF series would have been entirely different. Final Fantasy would have ended with a clear cliffhanger for them to introduce a sequel to market, and follow up games would have taken place in the same world (save for retcon changes).

Pac Man would probably be collecting something more interesting than dots and the super dots would be guns to shoot at the ghosts who would probably be something culturally relevant.

Couldn't have said it better. A game is released, and a sequel follows. The sequel is released, and a prequel is in the planning. The prequel is released, and a sequel to that prequel is announced.

Didn't they retroactively give VII that treatment? :P

VII? Hell they've already been doing it with FFI. Dissidia is pretty much a prequel to FFI that finally explains who the WoL, Garland, and Chaos all are. :D

Project Justice's board game mode would have most definitely been DLC, instead of being cut out for the English versions of the game.....

In Final Fantasy you would still chose your party at the beginning but you only control one Warrior of Light in battle. And instead of naming your main charcter his name is forced to be 'Hurricane'. Your other three party members are named: 'Rainbow', the gentle but strong-opinioned princess from Cornelia, 'Gruff', the oversized and outcased elf, and 'Cid', the engineer. In battle they will automatically target enemy weaknesses and support the party, thus making Hurricane be there to basically whiff at dead foes. The following jobs would be available for your party at the start of the game:

Powerer (fighter)
Curer (white mage)
Nuker (black mage)
Puglist (black belt)
Fencer (red mage)
Rogue (thief)

Rather than purchasing spells at a shop and assigning them based on spell level, you instead learn spells via the 'ORB Grid' system (where ORB stands for Occasionally Requires Brain). In battle you earn AP (no exp) which you can use to travel across paths to the next ORB. Each ORB will provide you with power ups to your stats and occasionally spells. At a certain point in the game, Bahamut will grant you a class upgrade which changes your party's looks but doesn't have any other effect since everything is based on the ORB Grid.

The plot is basically the same, except the Dark Elf turns out to be Gruff's father and also once the rest of the Temple of Fiends is opened you can no longer visit any other towns. And, of course, various things are renamed:

Masamune -> Ultima Weapon (only equippable by Hurricane even if you make him a Nuker)
Warmech -> Omega

etc.

Also, this is another cop-out post from me but a lot of unused content that was in games like, say, FFVII and other games would likely also be DLC.

Devil May Cry would be a game about a guy who looks like Edward Cullen.

Oh wait....... >_>
