Nope.

Shinwa Tsuki
03-28-2012, 05:53 PM
The Brothers GF?

Rantz
03-28-2012, 06:53 PM
Nay.

CloudDragon

Lunatic Pandora? Or rather, the lunar cry?

Dr. rydrum2112
03-29-2012, 06:37 AM
Lunatic Pandora? Or rather, the lunar cry?

I was thinking that too- but I just did that as a riddle, so I am not sure that is what was meant...

Centra ruins?

Rantz
03-29-2012, 09:16 AM
None of the above.

CloudDragon
03-30-2012, 05:55 PM
Ragnarok?

Rantz
03-30-2012, 07:28 PM
Not the Ragnarok. The answer is something combat-related.

Gamblet
03-31-2012, 12:02 PM
Eden?

Rantz
03-31-2012, 01:33 PM
Nope.

CloudDragon
04-02-2012, 06:57 PM
Irvine's limit? Using super-powerful bullets? Once you pop you can't stop?

Or is it a GF? Hintplz!?

Rantz
04-02-2012, 08:00 PM
No to all of those.

The first line is referring to a process, or pattern, or however you want to put it, that once you set off you can't cancel.

Karifean
04-02-2012, 09:45 PM
Doomtrain?

Dr. rydrum2112
04-03-2012, 01:55 AM
Odin.

Rantz
04-03-2012, 02:41 AM
No, but I'd say that's the closest guess so far. And no, not Gilgamesh either. ;)

Karifean

Killing many Tonberries to spawn Tonberry King?

Dr. rydrum2112
04-04-2012, 02:42 AM
Killing many Tonberries to spawn Tonberry King?

That or Toneberry King himself. I was trying to think of Toneberry King's attacks and don't really remember if he had a special one.

Rantz
04-04-2012, 09:28 AM
Nothing to do with Tonberries or Tonberry King.

Hint: "god out of the machine" is the literal translation of "deus ex machina".

Karifean
04-04-2012, 05:37 PM
the process of killing all the propagators?

Rantz
04-04-2012, 06:16 PM
Nope.

Gamblet
04-04-2012, 07:15 PM
Phoenix?

Rantz
04-04-2012, 07:28 PM
Correct!

Once you pop, you can't stop
Once you've used the Phoenix Pinion and summoned Phoenix, there's no way to make him stop coming (not that you'd want to).

Runed earth commands the prismatic god
When summoned, an insignia of sorts is burned into the earth, and Phoenix springs out - and he is rather prismatic (http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy/images/a/ab/FFVIII-Phoenix.jpg).

Out of the proverbial machine
Again, "deus ex machina" literally means "god out of the machine", and Phoenix does function like a sort of deus ex machina translated to gameplay mechanics.

Sum1sGruj
04-04-2012, 08:56 PM
Even though one of the hints said it was combat related, I simply could not get the idea of the Garden and Master NORG out of my head. As in, runed Earth and the machine/prismatic god (but I guess his orb thingys aren't really prismatic now that I think about it).

Oh well :|

Gamblet
04-06-2012, 12:18 PM
Once a lake, now a cemetery.
Filled with reptiles who are dead.
Watch your back, a beast is near,
Heal it and you will win.

Great Salt Lake, but nevermind. You're up!

Shinwa Tsuki
04-23-2012, 12:21 AM
Ohh, I wonder if I can take a chance....?

Gamblet
04-23-2012, 08:40 PM
YES, YES YOU CAN!

Shinwa Tsuki
04-23-2012, 09:02 PM
Toy of childhood.
Handmaidens of Woden.
Dawn of day and Japan's epithet.
Pope clothed in avian red.
Stellar wishes or showers.

Jiro
04-23-2012, 09:34 PM
I have very little reasoning but is this related to the Lunar Cry?

Shinwa Tsuki
04-23-2012, 09:52 PM
Nope.

Four more guesses, and I'll give a hint.

Jiro
04-26-2012, 07:49 AM
Do each of the lines refer to a separate item, person, etc? Or are they all clues pointing to a single answer?

Shinwa Tsuki
04-26-2012, 05:42 PM
Each line is linked, but answer one line at a time as each is separate.

Shinwa Tsuki
04-30-2012, 12:48 AM
Here's a hint: This is linked to a character.

Jiro
04-30-2012, 01:03 AM
Rinoa's weapons.

First line refers to the Pinwheel, a children's toy.
Second is the Valkyrie who could easily be seen as "handmaidens".
Third is Rising Sun, obviously with a strong relationship to Japan and the dawn of day.
Fourth is the Cardinal, who is a red robed pope.
Fifth is the Shooting Star, which you can wish upon.

The last one was the biggest hint, somehow.

Shinwa Tsuki
04-30-2012, 04:12 AM
I know that the last hint was going to get it in motion.

It's your turn Jiro. Your reason are nearly spot on, I was thinking more along the lines of: the Shooting Star is also called either Wish Star or Wishing Star in Japanese (if I'm not mistaken); A cardinal is both a bird and a pope; Woden, or Odin, could be seen as the Valkyrie's master.

Jiro
04-30-2012, 08:19 PM
I knew your justification would be a little more crisp than mine, I was just glad to catch a shred of the same wavelength!

Gateway to the beginning and gateway to the end
Where the seeds were planted, took root and blossomed
The place where I'll return to someday

Shinwa Tsuki
04-30-2012, 09:22 PM
Oh boy, I have a good hunch what the answer it.... Let's see if someone else can answer the riddle.

Gamblet
05-02-2012, 12:03 PM
Orphanage?

Shinwa Tsuki
05-02-2012, 05:17 PM
That's what I'm thinking as was, only it's the flower field at Edea's Orphanage.

Jiro
05-03-2012, 08:17 PM
Edea's Orphanage is what I was going for, though I heavily referenced the flower field as Shinwa Tsuki obviously realised.

Shinwa Tsuki
05-03-2012, 11:22 PM
Jiro, who gets the riddle making turn?

Shinwa Tsuki
05-06-2012, 04:13 PM
Jiro?

Gamblet
05-06-2012, 08:41 PM
You dead, man?

Shinwa Tsuki
05-07-2012, 02:27 AM
Should I take the riddle making, Gamblet?

Jiro
05-09-2012, 07:01 AM
I don't mind who takes it, honestly! Sorry I couldn't respond, I was in Canada. Shit is weird in Canada.

Gamblet
05-09-2012, 01:45 PM
Okay, I'll take it.

An important trademark,
a gift to a girl.
Ultimate power,
drawn from one's mind.

Shinwa Tsuki
05-09-2012, 05:09 PM
Griever

'An important trademark' - Griever is Squall's animal trademark (and one of Square's).
'A gift to a girl' - relates to Squall giving Rinoa his Griever ring (even though the pass 'relay' was from Squall to Zell to Rinoa) as a gift.
'Ultimate power' - refers to Squall considering Griever to be a GF of 'ultimate power'.
'Drawn from one's mind' - Ultimecia draws Griever from Squall's mind.

Gamblet
05-09-2012, 08:35 PM
Exactly! I don't know how to make hard riddles, but I tried my best.

Your turn.

Dr. rydrum2112
05-10-2012, 01:29 AM
Gamblet, don't worry bro- the hard ones are not better, in fact most of the time I think they are worse.

Good riddles are clear in their meaning & intent and either with a mild twist or humorous answer.

Shinwa Tsuki
05-10-2012, 03:25 AM
Heehee, let's see....

I am not the holy by any means,
Yet a trinity I give if you use me.
How you attain me is up to you,
The guardian of hell uses me.

Gamblet
05-10-2012, 01:14 PM
"I am not the holy by any means," - That is unclear to me. Maybe useless? :D
"Yet a trinity I give if you use me." - Triple magic.
"How you attain me is up to you,
The guardian of hell uses me." - Related to Cerberus.

So my guess is the Triple spell.

Shinwa Tsuki
05-10-2012, 02:37 PM
Yep, also....
"I am not the holy by any means" - this line and the next one refers to the "Holy Trinity", although I should not have used 'the' in this line.
"How you attain me is up to you" - this refers to the fact that you can refine, draw, or use Cerberus.

Gamblet
05-10-2012, 07:06 PM
Ok, my turn now.

I can fly,
I can crash.
If you help me,
I help you.

Shinwa Tsuki
05-10-2012, 10:22 PM
Hm... Doomtrain?

Dr. rydrum2112

An ancient past time
[breaking the 4th wall]
"form like voltron
to take on all."

Equip-able to any
for the player to assign,
uplifting the spirit,
time for the team to shine.

Amongst teen angst,
held while booked
the 3rd most popular in trios
important but overlooked.

Shinwa Tsuki
05-11-2012, 05:45 AM
A GF? Is there a reason for the second line to be like that?

Gamblet
05-11-2012, 12:04 PM
Doomtrain?

Dr. rydrum2112
05-11-2012, 03:33 PM
It is not Doomtrain.

The 2nd line is supposed to be like that, its me saying that the first line can be read like the 4th wall is broken. Wasn't sure how else to make that clear- hahaha.

Gamblet
05-11-2012, 04:38 PM
Some kind of support magic spell?

Jiro
05-12-2012, 05:39 AM
Definitely giving me a GF vibe. I want to say Diablos but I have very little reasoning for it.

Shinwa Tsuki
05-12-2012, 06:12 PM
'voltron' - something that transforms its shape?

Dr. rydrum2112
05-13-2012, 12:44 AM
It is not diablo.

You guys are looking for clues too early! After a few more explicit guesses I can answer those questions you have.

I will say doing a line by line picking apart of words is not helpful, this is a big picture riddle.

Rantz
05-13-2012, 03:04 PM
Sounds like Quezacotl to me.

Gamblet
05-13-2012, 08:18 PM
Sounds like Quezacotl to me.

I thought about same thing.

Dr. rydrum2112
05-14-2012, 04:42 PM
Not Quezacotl.

hint 1: it is not a GF.
hint 2: it is not something that transforms, the voltron line might be throwing people off- you can ignore it and still get the answer.

Gamblet

Thunderaga?

I wonder what 'while booked' mean?

Gamblet

I wonder what 'while booked' mean?

"held while booked" may mean that the object in the inventory is reserved for something but you don't use it.

Not Holy or Thunderaga. You guys are out clevering me.

Booked is an industry term, and also is used in the correct way, (although it might not be definition 1 in some dictionaries).

Hint 2: Instead of trying to guess an object/spell it will help if you think about the generic clues to pinpoint what I am referring to in the game,

An ancient past time [breaking the 4th wall]
uplifting the spirit, time for the team to shine.
Amongst teen angst held while booked.

(that voltron ignore wasn't much of a hint, you guys might be to young to get that clue)
*I apologize- I thought this would be easier than it is.

Shinwa Tsuki
05-16-2012, 02:34 AM
That's okay, I had a FF9 riddle that was just as confusing.

Would 'ancient past time' refer to the time of ancient Egypt, or somewhere in the medieval times? Anyway, I'm guessing that the 'ancient past time' refers to something along the lines of a game of the ancients.

Could 'booked' mean 'engaged'?

An Ancient past time, in real life (and presumably in the game). That is why I said breaking the 4th wall.

Engaged is a synonym although its parallel usage for this specific situation would be awkward in english.

Shinwa Tsuki
05-17-2012, 04:30 AM
Oh.... some possible ancient past time could be gardening, music, fishing... maybe I'm missing some.....

This is not a guess, merely thinking aloud.

Shinwa Tsuki

It took me a bit...

Could you explain the "voltron" thing? (And perhaps, the rest of the riddle...)

Give me a bit to figure out my riddle.

Edit: My riddle:
My partner and I,
Bicker a lot.
I'm the one in blue,
Can you guess my name?

Dr. rydrum2112
05-19-2012, 06:16 AM
Technically I was looking for the "bass guitar".

An ancient past time
[breaking the 4th wall]- just describes music
"form like voltron
to take on all." - rap lyric from 90s and your party forms a band

Equip-able to any
for the player to assign, - you can assign which instruments
uplifting the spirit,
time for the team to shine.- trying to cheer squall up.

Amongst teen angst, - remember he runs off
held while booked- you hold the guitar during a concert (which is booked)
the 3rd most popular in trios
important but overlooked. - this describes the "bass" as a trio in rock is guitar drums bass.

Shinwa Tsuki
05-19-2012, 06:24 AM
Ah, okay.... It's still my turn, right?

Gamblet

Nope. She does where blue, yet she's not one of the partners in this riddle.

Dr. rydrum2112
05-20-2012, 12:41 AM
I think I know- but I don't want to monopolize, so I will just say:

recurring character in FFs?

Yes, which one?

Here is mine.

Done with the painting...
What the...?
I didn't put that there!

Who is the speaker?

Gamblet
06-03-2012, 09:17 PM
I think I am right when I guess the guy in Dollet whose grandchild ruined his painting every time he painted a bone on it.

Shinwa Tsuki
06-04-2012, 04:18 PM
Yep, that's it.

Gamblet
06-04-2012, 08:15 PM
I am depressed,
I block the way,
give me the drink or give back that card,
either way you will go far.

Karifean
06-04-2012, 10:23 PM
The drunk guy in the pub in Timber who blocks the door.

Gamblet
06-05-2012, 02:19 PM
Indeed. GO GO!

Shinwa Tsuki
06-06-2012, 02:28 AM
Ahaha, that answer came to my mind as soon as I read that riddle Gamblet.

Gamblet

DarkBahamut
07-26-2012, 10:03 AM
Random guess, but Rajin?

Rantz

Not Raijin.

X-ATM092? I'm really drawing a blank.

Rantz
10-11-2012, 06:21 AM
Nope. This riddle seems worse every time I look at it. D:

Hint: the answer is an unnamed thing, but it's something you see many times in the game. It's significant because it hinders you in a fashion, which is ironic because it's purpose is to help in that same aspect.

Jiro
10-11-2012, 06:47 AM

That, fellas, is the answer.

Jiro
10-11-2012, 01:15 PM
It's not Balamb Garden? It hinders because it like, gets stuck in autopilot and then crashes into shit etc etc etc.

Gamblet
10-11-2012, 01:19 PM
RENTAL CAR!!!!! It consumes fuel, which costs money, and it costs a lot when you first see the option to rent it and it is not that helpful too.

EDIT: Armored steed might mean that monsters can't attack you while in a car.
And the car is nameless.

Fair point, Shorty.

Shinwa Tsuki
10-17-2012, 05:12 PM
Where the sun shines the brightest
It could be somewhere in the wide open, or it could be related to something a character says.

And the lines have gone silent
The 'lines' could refer to communication lines which have 'gone silent'. This could refer to fishing lines as well, no clue how 'gone silent' relates to that.

There I sit, peacefully
The answer is sitting somewhere peacefully, maybe near a water fountain.

Calm like a gentle stream
The answer is linked to water in some way, and is very likely calm.

All in all, I think the answer might relate to the former Galbadia Garden headmaster (I forget his name) who is, by the end of the game, sitting near Mayor Dobe's house in FH.

This is more of my breakdown of the riddle.

Stuck in a box
The answer is stuck in a box, this is either symbolic or otherwise.

Beautiful women in every form
The phrase "in every form" makes me think that this could relate to the inner beauty more then the physical.

I smurfing hate Final Fantasy 8
I can not think of much for this one.

Goddamn I wish I had some alcohol to pass the time
The answer wishes it "had some alcohol to pass the time" with. This is likely symbolic.

What about you, baby?
The answer is asking if "you, baby" want some alcohal.

My answer: This makes me think of the "prison" that Laguna and his friends found themselves in at some point, though it might be another prisoner then Laguna.
