At E3, They said that a new battle system would be in for part 2 of FF13...Can anyone shed any light on this? Cheers!

It looks like it's mostly the same battle system from XIII.

One of the enhancements to the battle system is to allow Serah and Noel to have a monster in the party. This is one of the things that I have read that differentiate it from its predecessor.

In today's "Square Enix Magazine" (first one? I just got it in an email from SE) there are details stating that you will fight alongside befriended monsters. Paradigm shifts will remain but they have aimed to make battles even faster.

There are also "cincemaic actions" which are similar to KH2's triangle actions in boss fights. Basically its like a quick time event during some battles that produce different effects.

Only, we were specifically told they wouldn't be quick-time events...? Or was that just referring to the cutscenes only, and not battle?

They are during battle and not quite the "oh god, was that a button press that flashed across the screen! wait... am I dead? WTF !@##$#$$!!!!" Its more like the Reaction Commands from Kingdom Hearts 2. This is an example. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAG5yhqv8XQ&feature=related)

Ahhh, nothing special, then. On a sidenote, ahaha, I love how even in the little airship scene at the end, the attacks on Atlas still showed how much his health points went down. xD

I'm not crazy about monsters filling the 3rd party member slot. I really wish SE would stop with all the gimmicks in their post-7 games, as they tend to be what I enjoy the least. I'm also not crazy about hearing it will be a "faster" battle system. If a game is going to have a live, fast battle system, then it should be more like 12: I don't want to load to some battle screen. If it's going to be turn-based, then I want to have turns, like 1-3 and 10, instead of waiting for bars to fill up then having to rush to input a command.
