I got an email notification that encouraged me to come back. I don't think anyone but two people frequent here anymore, but it's all good.

Anyway, maybe it's just me, but I sometimes notice that some video game sound effects/voice clips unintentionally sound like something else in pop culture.

As a an example, allow me to shamelessly pimp this YouTube vid I made that illustrates my point. Don't worry, it's only eight seconds long.

I hear a lot of "stock" sounds in scifi shows/movies/commercials that I first heard in video games and they throw me off EVERY time. Jet Force Gemini and Star Wars Episode I Racer seem to be offenders numbers one and two for this for me.

There is a generic creaky opening door sound used in Daggerfall I often hear re-used in movies and shows and all I can think about is Privateer's Hold. Van Helsing is the one immediate example I can provide.

I just realized that I sounded like a big jerk up there. I meant to say that I don't think that anyone but two people who knew me post here anymore.

Anyway, I have also noticed a lot of Doom sound effects. TV Tropes has a bunch of these, but I am looking for sounds that resembles other sounds, like how I think Leon's death cry sounds like Tim Allen's grunt, as seen in my vid.

In L4D when Francis sees a med pack it sounds like he's saying "BIRD BIRD BIRD!" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MX3PjUf95f8) rather than whatever it is that he is saying there.
