I'm headed to Vegas for the weekend and am currently taking suggestions for road trip tunes. Suggest me some music! Everyone but Huxley is welcome.

Alternatively, what do you like to listen to on road trips? I go through phases between mellow and loud music to keep me awake.

American Pie by Don McLean. It's just so much fun to sing along to an 8 minute song where every line is a metaphor or allusion of some sort.

Literally every single road trip I've ever been on has featured 'Welcome to the Jungle'. Granted, we're always on our way to go get drunk somewhere, but still!

Canned Heat - On the Road Again for the mellow bits (maybe when cruising through the desert)

Canned Heat - Going Up the Country for that typical roadmovie feeling

Bon Jovi

Lady Gaga
Men Without Hats
Assorted classical/soundtrack stuff

...

That's honestly all I listen to on road trips. It's all I listened to when I drove 500 miles to my new home recently and it's all I listen to on my 50 mile round trip commute every day.

Last time I went on a road trip with 4 friends from uni we found that these songs get the best reactions from people sitting in the cars next to you in traffic jams when you open all the windows, turn them to full volume and sing and dance like tits:

Wham! - Club Tropicana
Aneka - Japanese Boy
Culture Club - Kharma Chameleon
N.W.A - Fuck the Police
Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting
Boston - More than a Feeling

I highly recommend all of them. Especially Club Tropicana, highlight of the journey being stuck next to some random guy in his Mercedes with his little sunglasses and smart shirt and tie on who started dancing like a total spastic along with us.

I always found Magic Carpet Ride to be an awesome one to listen to while in a car.

I have Japanese Boy on my iTunes still, Daney!

Huxley, you would have just suggested nonsensical and depressing Civil War marches. I want none of it.

Nah, he would've suggested Soviet-era marches.

I listen to a lot of remixed jazz on road trips. It's awesome!

I think this is the only acceptable answer tbh: YouTube - ‪Marilyn Monroe - Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend (Swing Cats Remix) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttbenRpiF0g)
