So I've heard speculation that the lockout may end soon (http://realredskins.com/2011/07/talk-of-cba-resolution-this-week-at-redskins-park/), so I figured the league should be up and running just in case.

http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/eyesonffl

Returning managers, whenever you can see this, you can PM me for the league password (I think it's the same as last year).

For newbies who may want to play, we'll give the returners a couple of weeks to register. By the time August roles around, if there are still some absent members, then we'll accept new recruits. Regardless, be sure to post your interest here; if there's enough extra people, I'll create a second league (or spuuky will recreate his insanity league).

This will be interesting. Replying to a thread that doesn't exist.

I'm in, of course. You might want to send out an email to last year's coaches since many of them don't check the forums.

I've always wondered, is a weekly effort necessary for this? Or can I just set my team at the start of the season, manage it intensely for a couple of months before getting bored and ending up finishing 5th like I do in the other fantasy football? :greenie:

Raistlin

Yeah, it does require some paying attention. Injuries are numerous, and any random backup could turn into a top-10 player at his position.

Also, Del, Yahoo should have automatically sent everyone an email.

*bump*

It would be cool if we could get more people to sign up for this. Only have 8 teams at present so we're hoping for at least 4 more.

PM me or Raistlin if you want the league info, and only join if you plan on paying attention the whole season!

I didn't get any notification, but I'm definitely in again.

Feel free to PM the password.

EDIT: Did some searching through yahoo and found what I needed to join up. Thanks!

Take care all.

Can't you just choose Tom Brady + other people and win without having to actively manage?

Del Murder
07-28-2011, 07:13 PM
Well for starters there is a draft, so you may not get Tom Brady or the other people you want. Secondly, injuries are frequent in football and require you to sub out for healthy players. Thirdly, there are bye weeks so if you played Tom Brady for every week you will likely lose one of those. :p

Secondly, injuries are frequent in football and require you to sub out for healthy players.

Tom Brady is indestructible.

I would probably know more players (I also know Michael Vick and Peyton Manning) and might even play if American football wasn't on at like 3 in the morning. And if I didn't have to watch one of two ESPN adverts every minute.

Raistlin
07-28-2011, 08:10 PM
Tom Brady missed a a whole season a couple of years ago. :p

Anyway, message me if you have any questions or are interested in joining. There are currently 6 oldbies who haven't signed back up, but I'll give them a few more days until I open the flood gates. More than likely we'll have at least a few spots open.

escobert
07-29-2011, 01:41 PM
can't join says not enough spots

Raistlin
07-29-2011, 02:50 PM
Weird. The max is set at 14, and we currently have 11. I just checked the league's settings again, so I dunno what the problem could be.

escobert
07-29-2011, 03:41 PM
i'll try again in a bit

escobert
07-29-2011, 05:59 PM
There was a problem

There is not room in this league if all teams from last year return. To join, get the commissioner to increase the maximum number of teams, or remove teams that will not be returning. (Error #638)

Raistlin
07-29-2011, 06:33 PM
Oh, ok, I'll have to figure out how to do that then. I'll mess around with it when I have some time, either tonight or tomorrow.

The Captain
07-31-2011, 06:21 PM
I think the max should be left at 14, but let Bert and whomever else wants to join up. Even with 14 teams, the talent gets stretched a bit and I'd hate to think about a 16 team league.

Del Murder
07-31-2011, 06:27 PM
12 or 14 is good. 16 is not. I say dump the old guys who haven't signed up yet and let Bert in.

Agent Proto
07-31-2011, 06:49 PM
Whew, its a good thing I signed up on time.

Raistlin
07-31-2011, 08:58 PM
Ok, I finally figured out how to delete those guys. I deleted one, so Bert can sign up.

I agree that the max should stay at 14.

escobert
07-31-2011, 09:31 PM
all signed up

Del Murder
08-01-2011, 01:17 AM
Who from last time hasn't signed up?

Raistlin
08-01-2011, 05:56 AM
Spuuky (surprisingly) and Spiff, I think.

Del Murder
08-01-2011, 06:06 AM
I will contact Spuuky. It is not the same without him.

Raistlin
08-01-2011, 02:40 PM
Anyone else interested in joining? Spiff has had a good month or so to sign up, and I don't know how else to get in contact with him outside the email to which he's already been sent an invite.

Raistlin
08-04-2011, 11:02 PM
We still need one more manager to give us 14 teams. It was Spiff's, but I just deleted his reserved spot, so it's open to anyone who wants it.

Rebellious Eagle
08-05-2011, 04:55 AM
I...I think I'll give it a go. :o

Del Murder
08-05-2011, 05:18 AM
Haha, what? Our first female player in like 9 years of doing this (well, besides that time Nicky drafted Spuuky's team)? This is awesome.

Rebellious Eagle
08-05-2011, 06:00 AM
I like football and wanted to join this the other year. Looks like fun. >:3

Raistlin
08-05-2011, 07:11 PM
So we have 14 teams now, and signups are closed. I'll determine the draft order sometime in the near future by my traditional method of having my sister randomly draw names.

Indeed, RE is our first female, but she is really no different from the rest of us. Try not to stare, gentlemen, and concentrate on your own boobs -- er, I mean team.

Rebellious Eagle
08-05-2011, 09:14 PM
Well said.
*ogles at own boobs anyway*

Old Manus

I'd wager the manboobs of the male EoFF population are probably significantly larger as it is

The Captain
08-07-2011, 06:34 AM
So....

what's the verdict with having a flex position instead of a third WR for this year?

And any chance of pushing the draft up one day to the 27th? I will most likely be on location come the 28th and am not certain of internet access.

Thanks!

Take care all.

Raistlin
08-07-2011, 03:01 PM
A few people are opposed to the additional flex position, so I'm hesitant to change that. However, I think there could still be a compromise regarding changing the 3rd WR or TE spot to WR/TE, or something else that doesn't involve having 3 RB spots.

EDIT: Also, it doesn't look like anyone would have a problem with Saturday, so unless other people mention a conflict, I'll move the draft back one day.

Del Murder
08-07-2011, 04:54 PM
I liked it when we had 4WR but with 14 teams that may stretch the talent pool pretty thin.

The Captain
08-16-2011, 07:58 PM
Any word on those changes and on the draft order?

These first pre-season games have put football back on my mind again.

Take care all.

Raistlin

Sorry for the delay, guys. I moved to a new apartment last week for my last year of law school, and I've been really busy since. The draft has been moved back to Saturday afternoon. I used a random number generator to come up with the draft order:

1. Rebecca Black
2. Los Banditos
3. Fighting Combatants
4. edczxcvbnm's Angels
5. Harshaw
6. Carpieburgh Steelers
7. Metal Bubble Slimes
8. Vuvuzela Destroyers
9. Oakland Enforcers
10. The Brees Knees
11. KansasCity Shufflers
12. Eggplant Salad
13. Vermont GreenScums
14. Back to Black

I just have to say that my team is horrible.

Del Murder

You beat me.

eestlinc
12-01-2011, 03:29 AM
I was especially proud of picking up Oakland's D to do so. But I still have the lowest cumulative points of any team in the league. It's amazing I have four wins.

Del Murder
12-01-2011, 04:00 AM
I've been beaten by Oakland too many times this season...but I'll gladly stink it up if they win the West.

Raistlin
12-01-2011, 06:18 PM
I too am rooting for Oakland to win the West, as well as for McFadden to stay out as they do so, so that Bush can continue to be awesome for me.

Del Murder
12-01-2011, 09:37 PM
Before Bush made your team actually good, you were one of the luckiest bad teams I had ever seen in our fantasy league.

Raistlin
12-01-2011, 10:28 PM
Victor Cruz and AJ Green made my team good (despite overpaying for Green), as my WRs had definitely been my weakest link. I was actually late to the Bush bandwagon, mistakenly keeping him benched the week he outscored Gore by 30 points. Which would have hurt me had I not been up against Team Rodgers/Gronk that week, who slaughtered me by more than that.

I was definitely fortunate in the scheduling, going up against 5 of the 6 now lowest ranked teams in the first half of the season, when my team was struggling to be mediocre. But after 6 years in this league and multiple near-misses, it's about damn time I got a little lucky. I say now as it's still possible for me to miss the playoffs with consecutive losses.

eestlinc
12-06-2011, 03:34 AM
Rivers coming to life? This game feels like Rivers and Gruden are auditioning for each other for next year. Still, it will be nice if I manage to hold on and win after being down almost 40 yesterday before the late game. But more likely he'll throw two picks and drop me down for a loss.

Del Murder

stupid ryan grant scores his first two tds of the season on my bench in my last game. what a horrible pick.

Raistlin
12-30-2011, 03:58 AM
My 6th year here, and I finally win a Championship. Now I assume I will go back to barely missing out of the playoffs for the next 5 or 6 years. Special thanks to Ray Rice and Victor Cruz for being badasses.

Another great season, everyone, and see you next year.

Relena Peacecraft
12-30-2011, 05:55 PM
Unfortunately, my team didn't figure out how to decimate everything in its path until the last two games of the season, which led to a great performance in the consolation bracket, but didn't do much for the rest of the year.

Really, I'm just happy I didn't have completely useless receivers for once.

I hope to actually have sort of stats site going by next season, but I said that last year, too.

Raistlin
01-01-2012, 07:13 PM
I did miss the stats page and your commentary. We're already missing RSL's weekly Lions heart attacks; we cannot lose the stats, too!
