‎If you could go back in time as any historical figure, who would you be?

Additionally, would you live out their life exactly as they did or would you make any changes that might perhaps alter the world as we know it today?

I'd be Cleopatra, because she's a badass. And I sure as hell wouldn't kill myself via snakebite (or at all).

Friedrich Nietzsche, just to have that mind.

Abraham Lincoln, for the hat and the beard.

Mansa Musa. So I'd be uberrich.

Abraham Lincoln, for the hat and the beard.

Unfortunately there's a pesky bullet bundled in with that combination.

I want to be Alexander the Great and not go to India, so I won't get malaria and rule the world.

Pshaw, quick death is fine with me!

Cleopatra was freakin' badass. She was wealthy beyond belief, highly intelligent, was worshiped as a goddess by her people, and ruled over the most culturally and scientifically advanced nation of the Ancient world. Things I would change: Not align myself to Marc Anthony, since he was buffoon who led to her ruin.

And it's not likely that she died from a snake bite. It was probably more likely that she died from a mixture of poisons like hemlock and opium. This was after repeated attempts to kill herself while in the custody of Octavian.

Genghis Khan, for the women.

Either Ada Lovelace or Maire Curie

Or Tesla, if I can genderswap

Jesus. Walkin' on water and touchin' lepers? Fuck yeah.

Or a dinosaur. :shobon:

Agreed with Cleopatra. She is probably the most powerful woman historical figure I can think of.

I'd be Henry VIII and I would keep England Catholic rather than inviting the disaster which occurred.

How would this work? would we share minds or would I inherit the experience and take over from there?

Because if you made me Albert Einstein I would just be stupid PG in a white man's body.

In either case I'll pretend it's the former and take over Don Juan's life. Except I won't be dragged into hell. What do you mean he's not real?

Alexander the Great it is.

Jesus, but instead of a martyr I'd be a superhero.

Yeah, I'd say the first.

Oh nevermind then. I don't want to share my mind with Jesus. That guy was crazy.

This isn't set in stone! xD You can have it be however you want. But like PG said, being Einstein without Einstein's brain would be useless.

Assuming a genderswap as I mentioned previously, I also wouldn't mind being:

Charles Babbage
I.K. Brunel
Abraham-Louis Breguet

Yeah I have a thing for 18th and 19th century engineers. Yes, I'm aware that this is a slightly unusual fetish. No, I don't really care~

Didn't Marie Curie die horribly due to long term exposure of large doses of radioactivity? :hello:

Genghis Khan, for the women.
This was my immediate choice. Rule over the largest contiguous empire ever? Fuck. Yes. And then everyone would be related to me. /smug

I like the way you think. Which one?

I'd love to be Elizabeth Báthory.

I'd be Joan of Arc if genderswapped.

Get to talk to God, yo. Sure, I'll be French, but French chicks are badass.

Man, you guys must be into self-harm because a lot of you are gunning to be people who went through some seriously major bad times.

I'd be Bill Gates. A safe life, a solid mind, a buttload of money, a wife and kids. And the mind to be generous with said money. What's not to like about that life? Sure, it'd be nice to be better looking, but them's the breaks. So long as my wife was faithful then I can't see why I wouldn't be happy.

EDIT: Alternatively, a hot, rich, successful (happiness-wise) homosexual chick, purely so I can find out what it's like to be a girl, but without having to do it with a guy. =x I'm not sure of who this is, so maybe it's someone in the future.

All of my historical heroes died young or horribly. Genghis Khan was indeed awesome, but he never relaxed and died in the saddle. Belisarius had his eyes put out by Justinian and died a pauper. Caesar was murdered by his best friend. Tokugawa Ieyasu was under constant threat of assasination. These are fun people to read about, but they would not be fun people to be.

So I guess my answer would be Richard Feynman.
