I found out about this shojo series by accident on tvtropes (the love interest is a prominant example of the Nice Guy trope). I'm not much for shojo manga in general, but I like ones that are well written and have a sense of humor.

This has an interesting premise: a high school student who bears an uncanny resemblance to Sadako/Samara from the Ring movies. It doesn't help that her attempts to be friendly come across as profoundly creepy. She is befriended by a fellow student who is affable and popular, but he sees past her dark aura and picks up that she's basically a kind hardworking girl. This opens her up to start making a small group of loyal friends.

Has anyone else seen this? I've bought all the translated manga volumes and streamed a few of the anime epiosodes.

I read the manga and I love it, it's nothing game-changing in terms of shoujo manga (with the usual main couple who obviously like each other but manage to make things really difficult for themselves) but it's warm and funny and the supporting cast are great, especially the two best friends Sawako makes. And I love a good shoujo manga.
