Whoops! Browser Settings Incompatible (http://www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2011/07/18/a_message_from_capcom)

While on the one hand I want to not really care because it was for the 3DS and I have no intention of ever buying one, I'm still sad to see the one hope for continuing the franchise canceled. It's also a bit of a shame since it was if nothing else, an interesting experiment in community involvement in the development process.

Well, thank you Capcom for once again crushing any hope I had for a beloved franchise of yours.

I have lost one huge reason to get a 3DS. MML was one of my favorite franchises, its extremely stupid how "Western" Capcom has been lately with most of their games with a few exceptions.

Yeah, this sucks. This also annoys me cause it just means getting a BoFVI might be more unlikely in the future, if Capcom is willing to cancel another popular cult classic. :(

Hugely disappointing but I'm not surprised. Once Inafune left and they canceled Mega Man Universe, plus with how weird the development of this was, I kind of knew this was a doomed project.

Not to mention the E3 where the Nintendo announced the 3DS and had EVERY magical franchise you've ever known or loved coming to the 3DS in some shape or form, EVEN Metal Gear Solid 3, EVEN Mega Man Legends. Well, now Mega Man Legends is cancelled, and Metal Gear Solid 3 is coming to the Vita in High Definition, with a dual analog stick, oh, and did we mention you can transfer your saves between your PlayStation 3 so you can play it on your big entertainment center and then on the go?

When you add in other games getting delayed (http://www.warpzoned.com/?p=11061) because of the success of the platform, and with Iwata admitting (http://www.warpzoned.com/?p=10697) to the problems, it looks like the 3DS really is the new Virtual Boy.

Way to derail this topic into a Sony propaganda thread for the Vita :roll2

I won't lie, I'm loving how the Vita is turning out, but honestly the 3DS' success is probably a good indicator that the Vita is going to fail even harder since Sony typically doesn't have the same marketing power Nintendo has had these last few years.

Considering Mega Man has mostly sold like shit ever since Battle Network 3 (hell, even MM9 and MM10 didn't do up to expectations) it's no surprise that this and MMU were canceled. That and Inafune's gone too.

I'm not even sure what to say about this. Fans weren't active enough in the development portion of the game so it was canceled? Is that some kind of bad fucking joke? Did Capcom feel they weren't getting enough free labour from fans to justify continued production?

This might honestly be one of the most retarded excuses for canceling a game I've ever heard.

Definitely not the best thing to say from a PR standpoint. I've seen a lot of really angry fans since this announcement.

Whelp I don't feel like getting a 3DS anymore. At least until the next Pokémon game.

Soooooo insane. The person who said that makes it seem like Capcom was measuring the market for this game by how many people got involved with the development.

When MAG started tanking, Zipper had polls about potential changes to certain game mechanics, where the winner would be implemented into the game. I'd say the same thing to them as Capcom right now: I don't want my personal tastes to be put into a game, I want incredible developers to come up with amazing game design to deliver to us.

It feels almost like the characters in MML just succesfully launched the rocket ship to rescue Mega Man, only to have the ship blow up before it could leave the atmosphere.
