Lets start on our teams for the new season lads and lassies.

This time we have two leagues, the classic one which we are all used too, and a head to head league, where each gameweek we match up against another member to gain points. Not really a reminder but more a of a plea (a desperate, desperate plea :aimsad:), please remain active throughout the season if you do join to make it competitive for all. Again, any randomers who are not members will be thrown out of the league. Have your submissions in for 13th August, 11:30AM to start on the first gameweek.

Always Sheffield Wednesday. Although I am biased as the only game I can remember of them was a 3-1 home win against United in our treble winning season. Niclas Alexandersson, what a prick.

Dane Whitehouse lad... Dane Whitehouse.

This season it is near gone impossible to ensemble a team you are truly happy with. They are getting tighter every year with their budget by increasing the value of players. :/

Dunno you know, my team is virtually identical to the one I picked last season give or take a few changes. The only issue I'm having at the moment is having Charlie Adam as my marquee midfield player, I want someone else but he's the cheapest one. :colbert: Could re-jig the defence a bit I suppose but I like it as it is now.

My problem was that Huth was playing Chelsea first week. And had Danny Simpson as my sub. Playing Arsenal. Had to drop Robert and replace him with Christopher Samba.

Actually, I retract my statement. Blackburn are solid defensively. DON'T LEAVE CHRIS!

Windass and Holloway should have been in the PL forever and ever and ever. I miss Holloway. Surely we'd have had a good pre-season warmup rant by now.

EDIT: Also, enough talk about who is going to win the PL. Who's going to get relegated and who is going to get promoted from the Championship? That's six spots, so hopefully come end of the season we can remember to check back at it all.

I'm going to go with my heart for some. :)
PL Title: Manchester United
Top Four: Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool
Relegated: Norwich, Wigan, Swansea
Promoted: Blackpool, Nottingham Forest, Birmingham

Arsenal only losing out because they couldn't hold onto one of Nasri or Fabregas, and didn't buy a good replacement for Clichy or any of the rest of their defence from ten years ago.

Normally I'd say that Swansea would stay up through sheer grit but seeing Blackpool go down has taught me a harsh lesson there. :(

Heath

Rushden & Diremonds are signed up and ready to finish mid-table! (Did you physically cringe at the name? I know I did...)

PL Title: Chelsea
Top Four: Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal
Relegated: Everton Liverpool Blackburn, Norwich, Wolves (I was going to say Wigan, but they seem to miraculously stay up every season)
Promoted: Leeds, Cardiff, Burnley

I hope QPR go down. Warnock's bleating when he got utterly ruined was oh-so sweet the first time around.

Heath
08-01-2011, 11:48 PM
Warnock has comedy value, but I don't like him. I can see QPR doing either quite well or going straight down again, but I suspect it'll be the former.

Personally though, I'm more looking forward to another one of Delia's half-time pep talks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_8JLkwzpd0).

Generic Name FC fires up once more to prop up the lower middle order, just like Stuart Broad (except less tit).

PL Title: Couldn't give a toss, but Man Utd
Top Four: Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City

Yawn. Now for the only part of the Premier League that remains interesting!

Relegation: QPR, Wigan, Norwich (smurf you the Swans are eternal)
Promoted: West Ham, Notts Forest, Watford

EDIT: For the love of God somebody fix that ridiculous wordfilter.

Post your teams if you wish.

Mine (for now):
GK - Given (Aston Villa)
GK - De Vries (Wolves)
DF - Lescott (Man City)
DF - Richards (Man City)
DF - Brown (Sunderland)
DF - Gabbidon (QPR)
DF - Simpson (Newcastle)
MD - Lampard (Chelsea)
MD - N'Zogbia (Aston Villa)
MD - Taarabt (QPR)
MD - Sinclair (Swansea)
MD - Hoolahan (Norwich)
FD - Rooney (Man United)
FD - Bent (Aston Villa)
FD - Ba (Newcastle)

I think anyone who doesn't have Ba in their team is mental.

Loony BoB
08-08-2011, 09:51 AM
Ah, I was looking for a third striker and didn't notice Ba on the list. I had Gyan but having checked some reports from Sunderland fans recently, they all were happy with their side but not happy with his, uh, diet. Apparently he's put on a lot of weight, and isn't running around as well as he used to. I'm looking to swap him for someone, and I'd gone for Roberts (given that Blackburn have a game at home to Wolves) for now but wanted to change it.

Going by memory (site is blocked at work), my team is...

GK: Hart (Man City)
GK: Al-Habsi (Wigan)
DF: Vidic (Man United)
DF: Brown (Sunderland)
DF: O'Shea (Sunderland)
DF: Luiz (Chelsea)
DF: ??? (Completely forgot who else I have here, I know I made a change right near the end from Figueroa to... some other player)
MF: Nani (Man United)
MF: N'Zogbia (Aston Villa)
MF: Park (Man United)
MF: Emerton (Blackburn)
MF: Tioté (Newcastle)
ST: Suarez (Liverpool)
ST: Odemwingie (West Brom)
ST: Roberts (Blackburn)

I'll probably shuffle my midfield a little before the season begins, but we'll see. It largely depends on how much gametime Park gets. When he plays, he gets points, but obviously there is solid competition for places in that area. Nani I'm guessing will play more often than not at the start of the season at least. When Chicharito is fully fit I'll possibly switch him in for Suarez, but we'll see... depends on Suarez's form, obviously.

Old Manus

I'm waiting to hear if Suarez will be ready for the opener. If not, I'll have to change my lineup a bit more.

Take care all.

DK
08-09-2011, 10:30 PM
I think the VC spot is for when your captain is injured/unable to play or something so the captaincy transfers to the VC and they get the double points instead

Loony BoB
08-10-2011, 09:51 AM
Dan has it correct. If the captain doesn't play for any reason, the vice captain gets doubled points instead.

The riots are probably going to cause some games to be cancelled. I'm wondering if I should be changing my team around or not. I'll wait until just before the deadline to see how this affects things, but I'm guessing that it'll be a case of "certain games might not go ahead and you will miss out on points if you don't adapt accordingly".

Psychotic

MF: Brunt (WBA)

FW: Suarez (Liverpool)
FW: Bent (Aston Villa)
FW: Ranger (Newcastle)

I can't entirely decide how happy with that I am. Kinda regret not playing last year as it made the picks a bit harder this time around. It feels like sacrilege having more Liverpool players than Everton ones, but alas. I used to have Reina in there relatively consistently but I was a bit cheap with my keepers this time around.

Edit: As I posted in the other thread, the only game to be postponed, apparently is Spurs v. Everton. Which I am obviously thrilled by, as it means our inevitably disappointing start to the season will be delayed temporarily! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14485169.stm

Gonna make a better stab at this thing this season!

Rocket Edge
08-12-2011, 06:24 PM
My final team choices (starting team):

GK: Given (Aston Villa) - I think he is bound to keep clean sheets & the odd bonus points.
DF: Lescott (Man City) - He will start every game and he can score goals.
DF: Richards (Man City) - Might get the odd goal, & City are up against Swansea at home on the opening gameweek.
DF: Luiz (Chelsea) - Chelsea have easy fixtures to start off with.
MD: Lampard (Chelsea) - ^
MD: Hoolahan (Norwich) - Good player
MD: Taarabt (QPR) - Should be this years Charlie Adam
MD: Ireland (Aston Villa) - I think he'll return to form
FD: Rooney (Man United) - Season of his life :D
FD: Bent (Aston Villa) - Easy fixtures for AV
FD: Campbell (QPR) - Bargain for 5.5M

Subs:

GK: De Vries (Wolves) - I think he is starting
DF: Simpson (Newcastle) - Cheap, might keep the odd clean sheet
DF: Brown (Sunderland) - He'll do well I think
MD: Sinclair (Swansea) - I think he'll be great this year, but away for Man City first game means he's on the bench

I dropped Ba because I don't think he will get the service this year. This will more than likely change again by the time 11:30 PM roll's around tomorrow. :)

The Captain

'sup Donal? xD

My team will look to shuffle a bit after the site stopped people from logging in. I would have made more changes if not for that. =| Not pleased, Premier League Fantasy Football! Oh well, it's a decent side anyway and Roberts got an assist.

GK: Hart (Man City) - Solid keeper.
DF: Vidic (Man Utd) - Should start every game he's fit for, at least for now. Rio's more likely to be the one who will be replaced by the younger defenders we have.
DF: Luiz (Chelsea) - Can't believe how cheap he was, because he's fantastic and should play regularly this season. Injured right now, though, but I have good backup defenders.
DF: Hangeland (Fulham) - He or Brown will probably play depending on who they are against.
MF: Tiote (Newcastle) - Liked the look of him last season so hopefully he'll carry on, but now they have Obertan I'm not so sure who will play more over the season... still, he's cheap.
MF: N'Zogbia (Villa) - Should do well, wingers always do well with Villa... right?
MF: Nani (Man Utd) - SAF has said he's a starter for the coming weeks and he's in form. Easy points, I hope. Captain.
MF: Park (Man Utd) - Might change this, but for points per game, he's amazing. It's just how often he plays that's the problem.
MF: Emerton (Blackburn) - Playing Wolves. Thought they'd be more likely to get goals. Didn't work out.
ST: Roberts (Blackburn) - But this guy got an assist, so yay!
ST: Suarez (Liverpool) - In until Hernandez is getting regular minutes.

Subs
GK: Al-Habsi (Wigan) - Not sure on this one, really. Think I'll change it to Gordon once Gordon is fit.
DF: Distin (Everton) - Backup but still solid and has done me well in previous seasons.
DF: Brown (Sunderland) - With regular minutes, I'm sure he'll do well.
ST: Ba (Newcastle) - I'm not mental, I'm just Loony.

Silva & Aguero have just become this season's must have fantasy football accessory.

Burtsplurt
08-16-2011, 11:19 AM
Just joined the EoFF league, and I've already played my wildcard after seeing Aguero last night. Some player.

Loony BoB
08-18-2011, 08:05 AM
No wildcard needed as transfers are still unlimited due to the downtime last week. :)

I scored lowest last week and have made some wholesale changes. The changes are in green...

GK - Hart (Man City)
GK - Ruddy (Norwich)
DF - Luiz (Chelsea)
DF - Smalling (Man United)
DF - Fabio (Man United)
DF - Brown (Sunderland)
DF - Cahill (Bolton)
MF - N'Zogbia (Villa)
MF - Cahill (Everton)
MF - Nani (Man United)
MF - Silva (Man City)
MF - Tiote (Newcastle)
ST - Suarez (Liverpool)
ST - Fletcher (Wolves)
ST - Johnson (Fulham)

The strikers I'm not particularly happy with, but they were dirt cheap and allowed me to massively boost my midfield. That was also aided by going for a slightly cheaper backup keeper and downgrading my expensive defenders (Fabio & Smalling should probably play this week with Rio/Vidic/Rafael/Evra all injured or just coming back from injury). For my choice of strikers, I admittedly chose the two which scored goals last week and are now facing each other... so here's hoping that game is a proper goalfest. :)

Aguero still not in my team because of the strikers at City's disposal. Outside of Silva, I just don't see any attacking player that is a "likely start" for City.

It's insanely difficult trying to pick who out of Nani and Young I should have in my team. I really hope Nani plays well this weekend.

Rocket Edge
08-18-2011, 01:03 PM
My changes are:

GK - Given (Aston Villa)
GK - Ruddy (Norwich)
DF - A Cole (Chelsea)
DF - Jose Enrique (Liverpool)
DF - S Taylor (Newcastle)
DF - Lescott (Man City)
DF - Senderos (Fulham)
MD - Taarabt (QPR)
MD - Moses (Wigan)
MD - Sinclair (Swansea)
MD - Brunt (West Brom)
MD - Ramsey (Arsenal)
ST - Rooney (Man United)
ST - Bent (Aston Villa)
ST - Torres (Chelsea)

Sort of overhauled my defense. Gabbidon is of course no-where to be seen after he got me -2 . Keeping faith with Taarabt & the cheap boys in midfield however.

Psychotic

DK
08-18-2011, 06:08 PM
GK - Hart (Man City)
GK - Al-Habsi (Wigan)
DF - Hangeland (Fulham)
DF - Cashley (Chelsea)
DF - Cahill (Bolton)
DF - Distin (Everton)
DF - Figueroa (Wigan)
MF - N'Zogbia (Villa)
MF - Barton (Newcastle)
MF - Brunt (West Brom)
MF - Silva (Man City)
MF - Muamba (Bolton)
ST - Suarez (Liverpool)
ST - Aguero (City)
ST - Lita (Swansea)

Made a few changes, toyed with the idea of dropping Cashley to get a better midfielder but there was no one to justify it in the price range, Cashley is generally always good value. Got rid of Charlie Adam for Dave Silva, swapped Bent for Suarez for the South American strikeforce tag team of doom, dropped Ameobi and put Lita in for an extra point, swapped Nigel De Jong for Brunt and switched around some injured backup players.

The Captain
08-18-2011, 10:06 PM
My finalized roster for now:

GK: Hart (Man City) It was Cech but he's injured.
GK: Krul (Newcastle) Doubt I'll ever play him
D: Jones (Man Utd) Think he'll definitely play with Rio and Vidic out
D: Gabbidon (QPR) Purely a bench spot
D: Cahill (Bolton) Immense
D: Enrique (Liverpool) Think he looked fine his first match and should feature plenty
D: Wilkinson (Stoke) Could be a bargain
M: Adam (Liverpool) The playmaker of the bunch for Liverpool in Midfield
M: Ramsey (Arsenal) Surely, someone has to play the midfield for them
M: Jarvis (Wolves) Really like him a lot
M: Dempsey (Fulham) Good old American boy.
M: Arteta (Everton) Hoping for a big rebound year if he's healthy
S: Aguero (Man City) He looked superb and I DO think he'll feature
S: Suarez (Liverpool) So lively and Liverpool will definitely be an offensive club
S: Long (West Brom) Could sneak some goals in.

Glad I could continue to change my roster as I wasn't totally happy with my first week squad.

Take care all.

Also Jiro, just join in anyway. I don't think any of the people in this thread watch all the prem games regularly, I pretty much only catch the City games and mebbe the scouse games if Pauw is online and watching them when they're on TV. Shit season, so I just had a wildcard week and had a huge overhaul. Not that is going to help me do anything other than consolidate 9th because now I pretty much just have the same squad as the rest of the league, but what can you do? 32 points from three of the six players who have played so far this weekend, 6 from another, 0 from the other two. Mixed feelings, really, but so happy with Ba, Vorm and Rooney. That last round was terrible. Rooney netted me a point, which was doubled due to being captain (if he didn't get a courtesy runout when we were already 3-0 or so up, then I'd have had Ba as my captain, and he at least had the dignity to score a goal! Bad Wayne! Bad SAF! >=( grrrr). Evans, who managed a mere 45 minutes, got me a point - but also got carded, so there goes that points. God dammit. To top it off, the player who probably got the third lowest amount of points in the United side was probably Nani, so naturally he was in my team, too. What more could go wrong!? Well, I'll tell you! I had brought Nani back into my side at the expense of Bale, who scored two goals for Spurs. a;ljidg;qhieg;oaihg Okay, this is just cruel, now. All my other players kinda sucked, too, and I think I got around 30-odd points.

Despite all that, apparently I did better than the average score for that round. Go figure. Nobody likes a dud round, and that was definitely a dud round for me and it seems many others. =|

I changed a few players around, risking the return of Nani in favour of a rampant Valencia (but still managed to keep Nani for his recent goal, hooray) in recent games, and also opting for bringing in Varmelean for Richards. So glad I put Evans in all that time ago, never expected him to play so much but he was cheap at the time! Haven't done too badly with that in mind despite not touching the site for months. xD

Excuses BoB! I forgot to change my captain though this week. I was gonna put it on Rooney, if he does anything tomorrow it will be tarred happy.

And the results are in! It's the greatest EoFF fantasy football season in recent memory! Twists and turns until the final seconds of the season! Or something. That said it was better than the actual Premier League in that it was a three horse race instead of two and all 3 could have concievably won it on the last day. In the end plucky Generic Name FC finally overcome their chronic midtableitis to overthrow the Brazilian Sugar Child dynasty. Suck it, brahs

There is no nice way to say this Mr. James Hornby... I'll just throw it out there. Scores have been readjusted, I think they took something away from Van Persie. :| Or maybe it's the bonus points.Either way, a great gameweek has just clinched me the title once again, very happy!

Great season lads. This was the best so far with there being 3 going for the title. Great effort by all! See you next season!

You must have counted it before bonus points came in. I added them up and I got 13! :bounce:

We all finished below average in the Head to Head league. Worst season ever (I still came sort of first though and you can't take that away from me :colbert:)
