Internet Priorities

Routines. We all develop them. What do you always check when you are online? Do you have a specific order in which you check things?

I usually check Facebook and my mail at the same time, then check on Twitter and Cracked.com, then this teaching job website to depress myself, then I go become bored with Google+ and Tumblr before I get too bored and wind up on 4chan (and inevitably porn websites so I can diddle my fiddle) or 8tracks.

I do this pretty much every day. What y'all do?

Email first, then facebook and EoFF, then Cracked, then any kind of series I'm keeping up with, then it's just bored clicking.

I have the option of opening my last tabs when I start up firefox so I've always got a ton of half-read tabs open. I always seem to have news and facebook and twitter open, and the rest is more or less totally random depending on what I was reading the night before.

Yeah, I usually save my tabs for when I start up Firefox as well...my standard tabs are usually Gmail, Facebook, EoFF, Slickdeals.net, and my youtube vid of the moment that I have on repeat :roll2 And work stuffs.

My routine is fairly set in stone, it seems.

I open up my browser and Google comes up, so I click it to Gmail. While that is loading I open up a new tab and load FB. Then another tab that goes to EoFF. Then I check my email. Once done that tab becomes Explosm and I move to FB. Check statuses and such there before going back to Explosm. Read that and move on to Ctrl+Alt+Del, read that and set that tab back to my email in case I get anything while online. And then I go to EoFF and FB, bouncing between the two.

After all that something might catch my interest in there enough that I open up Wikipedia and browse that. Occasionally I also read Texts From Last Night or something from memebase. That is about it.

To help myself wake up in the morning, I check Facebook from my phone, and then Reddit for a little bit. Then I check EoFF when I get to my computer, then Tumblr and similar things.

Generally the minute I get on I'm looking for something so I do that. Then Facebook and eyeson. Then anything that strikes me.

Facebook for 30 seconds, then Tumblr for the rest of my life. Then I check my RSS feeds for a minute before I Minecraft my life away. If I get bored with that, I just check whatever other websites I have saved in my Favorites.

After that, it can vary a lot.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that there are a handful of other forums I go to, but not on a daily basis, either because they're small and slow, or they're sort of "niche" and aren't really for chatting. So I check those out maybe once or twice a week.

I used to keep up with a lot of blogs back when I was still heavily blogging (mostly just to get my name into the community), these days not so much. I have a decent-sized following as is and I just auto-link my posts on Twitter.

For me, I usually start by loading my Facebook page, then I open tabs for the Huffington Post and Paul Krugman's column, along with any other articles pertinent to the news I'm following. Then I usually go to GameFAQs to vote in the daily poll and maybe read the Top 10 of the day, followed by going to a 360 website to catch up on gaming news. I'll usually also have a chatroom tab open, and if I'm playing a certain game, I'll have information up in its own tab, too. I'll usually check some forums, too, if I'm in the mood.

What I'm likely to check on any given day depends on where I am more than anything. But, say I am in all three locations in one day (which is normal), this is what I'll likely check...

At work: EoFF, BBC Sport, ManUtd.com, FFXIV Forums, Google News, RedCafe.

On bus: Yahoo! Mail, BBC Sport, Facebook, Twitter.

At home: Yahoo! Mail, EoFF, FFXIV Lodestone, FFXIV Forums, ManUtd.com, BBC Sport, Google News, LiveJournal.

Oh yeah, I forgot YouTube. I go on that everyday, but I don't intend to it. It just sort of happens whilst browsing other sites, that I come across a link that I want to watch or sometimes I do tend to watch the channels I'm subscribed to. Recently been in to watching DavidSoComedy's racist ass.
