It's been difficult getting a lot of feedback on what people want. The latest vote is that people want the competition once a month. To keep it from getting too drug out, I've reduced the time to half the month. That way there's some down time between competitions.

That doesn't make any sense. Whether you vote mid-month or at the end of the month, it's still a month between voting rounds. Why does there need to be 15 days of 'down time'? Isn't the time waiting for people to take and submit their photos already 'down time'?

Anywho, I'll post up my picture anyway because I'm quite proud of it. I think it's better than all the others but of course I'm biased. Number 7 is also pretty though (happy 4th of August I guess?). Vote for it as a write-in if you want. :D It's tough having your photography recognized when you live with someone as talented as Miriel. Imagine Monet's wife trying to paint something. So I was stoked to enter this competition because I felt my photo was good. Then I was sad to find the deadline was a couple days ago. :(

I suppose having the final voting day mid-month gives the winning photographer enough time to settle on his/her choice for next months theme.
And it would also leave time for a tie-breaker vote.

Again, the people who enter know what the winner chooses and should already be thinking of what theme they would pick should they win. I already knew mine!

The idea is that constantly having the competition running will make it become old much faster. Shlupquack mentioned it, and it sounded like a possibility. She's been on this forum since the beginning of time, so I felt she would have a good inside scoop.

I posed the idea of having it every other month and people did not like it. What about 15 days to take the picture and 10 days to vote? That's pretty much back to the original plan, and gives PLENTY of time to the players. Thoughts?

I appreciate feedback, so if anyone has an opinion on how they'd like this little thing to work speak up. The whole point is to make it fun for the participants.

I think once every other month would be too far apart. I personally wouldn't mind even doing it twice a month :p One week to post pictures, one week to vote, repeat.

I would much prefer 15 days to shoot and 10 to vote than the current 10/5. But I would like 20/5 better. Voting takes seconds. 5 days should be enough time to get the votes in.

Your mistake was listening to Amanda. Sure she's been here forever but we've been ignoring her for about that long too. :p

I'm cool with it being a monthly competition. If you have 3 weeks of photo taking and submitting and then one week of voting, I'd be happy with that. This way we can have some sort of down time if we submit a photo early.
Alternatively I think that 2 weeks for each could work well too.

Negative 2 days for posting photos and negative 1 day for voting. This way we'll have time for several hundred rounds before 2010!
