Last Thursday the demo for the PSP title was released on the Japanese PSN (anyone can get it). I've done 2 playthroughs and I've got to say, that this is probably the best PSP title they've ever done!! KH:BBS (as much as people liked it) was pretty bland and (graphics wise) wasn't the best looking game on the system. But type-0 looks better than GOW: Ghost of Sparta (what I thought was the best looking PSP title). Obviously I cant really comment on the story (not being able to understand it and whatnot), but the premise looks pretty interesting. It opens with someone (who appears to be Ace's brother) dying next to a chocobo mount and the scene was pretty spectacular. There's tons of blood and violence and I'm pretty sure the series trademark "T" rating is out the window with this entry. They still have some of the corny Japanese moaning/ girlish squeals/ femine boys pulling their vowels. One can only hope the English localization will have Bioware-esque voice acting (probably not). Looks like they haven't abandoned the FNC thing either as the Fabula Nova Crystalis logo is on the opening screen along with Square Enix.

The demo was limited to 2 summons, which were the ice skating Shiva and the Golem. The Golem is absolutely brutal and I used it to take out the last boss on the demo. The combat is fluid and I didn't encounter any slowdown/framedrops. They're using "the claw" for the camera system (any MH fans will understand). Tap the Right shoulder button to bring the camera behind the character. The characters are likable, if not a bit too Japanese, but that's to be expected. You always seem to roll out in three's it seems. There's no instant game over when you lead dies, instead you hold down the left shoulder button and up on the d-pad to choose another character. The aforementioned action with the right d-pad will let you switch between your 3 battle party members. Triangle is for melee and O and Square are spells/actions. X is to dodge.

All in all it's a great demo and everyone sould try it out, just open a Japanese PSN account on your PS3, download it and transfer it over to your PSP. REMINDER: In Japan, O is the "accept" button. X is the "cancel" button.

Actually, you can just go here (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/08/11/wanna-play-final-fantasy-type-0-here-you-go/) to pick up the demo, and not waste time with a Japanese account. I picked it up Thursday night, but my PSP is out of commission for the moment, so I'll have to play through it later.

Played over 5 hours on the demo now . The demo is more of Beta version than a demo of full game. The demo feature 4 missions in various difficulties, you will be dropped to the mission area directly but in full game you have to travel using an Airship or Chocobo.

My impression :
+I didn't watched every cut-scene but i liked what i saw.
+Each student plays differently. they aren't copy/past. I liked King and Ace a lot.
+You can go Solo in mission or use 2 characters while others act as reserve units.
+The NPC interaction is back.
+There is a timing system like Squall's limit breaks or maybe Ashley Riot's attacking style?
-/+Traditional level system.
-/+ The game is mission based like crisis core but there is a lot of exploration sadly it isn't the obvious type.
-/+ You can't explore the school or the world map in the demo.
-There was just one treasure box in the demo good luck to all those who want to find it (to get summer costumes :p)
-you can set one type of items mapped to select button but if you want to use another type you need to press start and use it from item menu.

For anyone who is interested in costume hunt, here is a good guide for you :

I liked everything in the demo except for the horrible camera. There was a twit recently by the game's director that they are going to fix it but if they don't i'll just wait for the inevitable HD release. This game definitely needs a second analogue stick imo.

You can always buy it digitally, then play it on the PSV. It'll have the second analog stick that we all crave!

Actually SE still hasn't confirmed if Type-0 is getting a release outside of Japan, and if memory serves me correct, it hasn't been featured at E3 since it was originally announced back 2006.

Your right. All the international hype surrounding the game is based on the assumption that SE would release the game Overseas. But c'mon Square's been one of the biggest supporters of the PSP (especially outside of Japan). They released: LORD OF ARCANA, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, DISSIDIA 012 [duodecim], THE 3RD BIRTHDAY and FINAL FANTASY IV - The Complete Collection all in the first half of THIS YEAR, when the PSP was supposedly "dead". If this was Capcom or SEGA I'd definetely share your doubts, but SE has been fair to the American PSP owner, hell Europe even got a few special editions of those games that came out this year.

I'm pretty sure it will come out, but it is odd that SE has not given it a release date outside of Japan yet. Especially when most of the titles you mentioned had a US/PAL release date given not long after the games were announced, whereas Agito has been in development for five years and even Kitase is saying SE has no real plans at the moment. It is a possibility that SE might deem the game unequipped for a Western Market. I mean, a good chunk of those titles you listed weren't exactly smash hit success stories for SE. It doesn't help that no one in the West seems to care about this game, and are more interested in when KH3 and Versus XIII are going to be released.

Course, I'm still betting money that it will have a western release date before the year is through, if not a week after its Japanese release. Still, SE has been acting weird lately and I'm sure the recent financial report has caused some havoc among the CEOs and management over there. They might not be thinking straight.
