Yeah. (http://www.warpzoned.com/?p=12485)

So, apparently the whole Battlefield 3 vs. Modern Warfare 3 debate is irrelevant, as is any other upcoming First Person Shooter for that matter. Valve is making a new Counter-Strike.

There's a huge thread going over on Reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/jgehv/iama_guy_who_spend_the_day_at_valves_headquarters/) with a competitive CS: Source player who was flown out to Valve headquarters to playtest the game with 9 other big community personalities and give feedback. Apparently Valve is really trying to reinvigorate the competitive community surrounding Counter-Strike and so has invited them.

It's going to use a similar engine as Source (the, um, Source engine which has come a long way) but integrate many of the elements from CS 1.6 so as to incite both communities to come over and, again, rebuild the pro scene. There will also be competitive and casual modes, with competitive having some kind of in-depth matchmaking and leaderboards (although I'm not entirely sure how matchmaking in theory could support CS' competitive history). The game is coming to consoles as well as Steam, but there's not going to be any of that regenerating health, iron sights, sprinting crap that... actually makes FPS feasible on consoles.

I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this yet but I thought I'd kick around some of the details in here and see how you guys feel about it.
