I took a risk today

I pressed the F12 button on my laptop. I'm not to impressed. It pulled up this screen that gave me some information that I do not care to know.

I also bought myself a 6$ lunch even though it wasn't good for me and I'm broke. But I was hungry.

My risks did not pay off for me this week.

I don't know why. Are you on a laptop? A screen pops up saying Developper Tools with a bunch of sub-menus and such as well as the page layout. It's wierd.

which do you do more often; hit a function key or use your media player controls?

For me, it's strange. The media playing controls (F7-F9) and the Brightness controls (F1, F2) and the volume controls (F10-F12) are all very important, but I hardly ever use F3 (exposé), f4 (umm. no idea what that even does. Time machine, or the dashboard or something? It appears to be disabled.) or f5-f6 (keyboard backlighting controls), so if those actually had some useful function assigned to them, I'd rather not have to press Fn.

I do think that more keys need Fns assigned to them, since the button is just right there. Typing Alt+letter famously does alternative characters, and there's no reason why Fn couldn't do the same thing.

Part of my job is to press F12 on numerous PCs on a daily basis. It allows me to get to the boot menu on the PCs at work, so I can boot from CD, something I need to do to wipe hard drives - one of the many miscellaneous tasks in the Stock Control role.
