Okay everybody! You guys have until October 16th to watch Hobo with a Shotgun! After that we're gonna pick a different movie! I don't know who will pick it. Maybe we'll decide as a group.

Anyway, here is what Netflix has to say about Hobo with a Shotgun...

This gory, gleefully over-the-top revenge fantasy stars Rutger Hauer as the Hobo, a bum who rolls into town hoping to start over, only to find his adopted city saturated in violence and ruled by a vicious crime lord known as the Drake (Brian Downey). The Hobo's answer? Pick up his handy pump-action scattergun and start laying waste to crooks, corrupt cops and every other lowlife who crosses his path.

Hey, I know that guy...: You've seen Rutger Hauer before! Most notably in Blade Runner where Hauer played Roy Batty, the leader of the replicant group that plays antagonist to Harrison Ford's Deckard. You may also have seen him more recently opposite Anthony Hopkins and that cute guy in The Rite, in Batman Begins and in Sin City.

This all seems familiar: because Hobo with a Shotgun was one of several shorts featured in Grindhouse. I'm hoping it's a lot better than Machete. Not that I hated Machete or anything, but I had higher hopes for it.

Okay guys, that's all the trivia I feel like researching. Happy watching, guys! Whenever you're ready, feel free to start discussing!

Maybe we could all submit reviews, and the funniest review gets to pick the next movie?

Rutger was also in the original Hitcher movie. I'm so ready for this even if it is like $9.99 on demand.

I never saw the movie, but I just want to dispel some myths about my generation here.

I was a fan of this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usFFKNRB2z8) long before Hobo came on to the scene.

The baseball game was on rain delay and I was getting annoyed so I decided to give this a go. I only watched 40 minutes of it because then the baseball came back on, but I think that will be enough. Below is my review.

What the smurf?

I watched about half of it but to be honest, I really didn't like it much. There are good movies and there are so-bad-they're-good movies and then there are wannabe-so-bad-they're-good movies, which I thought this kind of was. I know it's probably just a Fun Thing™ to the makers, but at the same time I feel like they're hoping it becomes some sort of gory cult classic, which ehhh it just feels like a lot of pretence. xD

I don't usually quit movies halfway through but this just wasn't for me. Better luck next time!

Here's my review
I thought it was pretty crap until the part where that girl says "You can't solve every problem with a shotgun" and he turns to her and says "It's all I know" then leaves.
Also when that Doctor pulls out a gun and is like "I'm tired of these damn crack heads" then starts unloading his clip, that was hilarious. Funny movie.

Machete was better than this. This....doesn't even make sense.

It had maybe 2 laughs (it's a comedy btw) and the rest I was thinking 'wow this is like machete but bad)

:(

pick a better movie next time rubahs.

Completely agree, really had to force myself to watch the entire movie, thought it sucked, no idea how it got a 7.2 rating )at least it was 7.2 when I checked the rating when I first watched it, now its taken a dip to 6.3, personally I would give it a poor 3/10 at best, if I was a gore freak then it might have been enjoyable, but I personally prefer psychological horrors like say Insidious and/or Paranormal Activity 1 and 2, I mean that part when slick walks in and his brother is like hey watch this then smashes some random guys food with a sledge hammer was fucking gross completely pointless too.

A film about gore... completely unbelievable, a whole town completely corrupted, a hobo that chews glass and apparently has an unlimited supply of shotgun shells and a prostitute that can DIY like a pro... a pathetic attempt at a story on the whole make this movie one of the worst film's I have ever watched.

I acquired this movie for our little film club thing but I haven't watched it yet. I'm kind of wary now...

...I'll probably watch it anyway.

I was just told by a IRL friend that he found a movie he just had to watch once he heard the title. It was this one. I played along like it seemed interesting; not gonna watch it.

The person with the best review picks the next movie right? The problem is there wasn't many reviews since most of us didn't finish this piece of garbage. :p But my vote goes to Rantz since he summed up my views pretty nicely.

Hobo with a shotgun:

in this movie, a lawn loving hobo stands up to injustice when he buys a shotgun and uses it to defend the people from a mafia bosses sons. He witnesses many horrible events and kills many people; only to be killed himself. At the end the girl he saves loses a hand to a fan and becomes the whorebo with a shotgun. this movie is basically a saw without morals or chance of survival. the horrible language is horrible. The F word is used about 638 times. Also, a hobo eats a peice of glass. I give this movie a 6/10. While it is original, it isnt very good.

Looks like I'm too late to join in, but this film sort of sounds like a more violent version of the Dashiell Hammet novel "Red Harvest," which I really enjoyed. I might try watching it. I used to be a huge Blade Runner fan, and I also really like the 10th Kingdom (which Rutger was also in).
