October Photo Contest Voting Thread.

We have a winner! Congratulations to Del Murder! Despite his protests over abstract themes, and his concerns on being able to produce something good, he won!

Those types of victories are the best! Tell us the new theme Del!

Even through all the protest and controversy over the theme, we had a healthy number of participants. Some who voiced the most concern provided the most inspired pictures.

The problem is EVERYONE provided amazing pictures. This is the first time where I don't already have my favorite picked out. I'm going to have to take some time.

The theme was distortion, so pick the image that you feel best displays that. There's some good ones this month.

Contest 5, being the honest contestant they are, has admitted that not the entire photo was taken before the theme was announced. All photos taken to change it, and all other manipulation was done afterwards. It doesn't quite fall into the rules, but they put a lot of effort into it.

So I leave it to you, the voters. If you think it's okay, vote for it. If not, don't. They already said it's not a big deal either way.

You can get them lots of places. It's known colloquially as Mexican Coke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_Coke). It's made in Mexico with cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. You can usually find them at Mexican restaurants or taco trucks, and places like BevMo sell it too. And it's also sold at random places like the checkout stand at Home Depot or Best Buy.

And now I am craving Mexican Coke and it's 1 in the morning. Thanks a lot. :colbert:

I finally decided. After much debate and nail chewing, I still think number 4's take on distortion as a distorted view of one's self image is the best.

Making the choice was muy dificil.

All are at an very high level. It's very difficult to choose from. Number 7 is a great shot & cleverly done. Number 3 has excellent colours, but my vote goes to number two. It's the type of shot that doesn't get snapped very easily, and I like all aspects of the picture. Well done to all.

I don't know about kroger (which is ralph's rebranded/debranded, check out the website at the bottom of your ralph's card sometime), but the grocery chain Harps, which was local to NWA sold coca cola de mexico, which was neat, but not worth $1 or the calories.

of course, if you live in Dublin, TX, you can get Dr. Pepper made with sugar, as well.

Cool! I didn't think my idea was as 'distorted' as some of the others but I did like how it turned out.

My selected theme is: Nature.

As I promised it is simple and not abstract. However, I think it is quite possible to produce some great photos that we have not yet seen.

I kinda had that in mind from the beginning. I just wasn't sure what the interest level would be. I figure we'll get twelve months worth, and then maybe a wild card round where there is no theme. That picture gets to go on the cover??

Or maybe a collaboration of all the winners to make the cover picture? That sounds like it could become a logistics/committee nightmare though.

Since there is snow in alot of places right now, I expect to see some pretty ballin' snow and leave nature photos. I may take some of my own.
