Director Toriyama confirmed in an interview with Dengeki Playstation that Sazh is not forgotten like certain dead character montages make him out to be. Though he's only mentioned briefly in the interview, Toriyama does say that Sazh is 'currently undertaking activities which are supposed to better Gran Pulse'.

Dengeki is in Japanese but a good summary of what was learned can be found here (http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/2011/10/25/dengeki-final-fantasy-xiii-2-casino-time-labyrinth-and-sazh.html).

Good to see Sazh finally, but it looks like he will be a pretty minor character. :(

Finally someone answers a question about Sazh. I figured he'd just have a cameo. Was he not as popular in Japan as he was elsewhere? He seems to be everyone's BFF around here.

Why aren't you updating the front site with this info? This is serious news!

CMS would come in handy right now. Fine, copy paste DUH!

Its a shame that the best character in the game is not getting the attention he deserves. :mad2:

I really hope he still has a fleshed out part in the storyline if he is indeed not playable. Sort of like Bugenhagen in FFVII, a fairly regularly seen character as opposed to the cameos of the likes of, say, Marlene.

On a sidenote, I wonder if FFXIII-2 will have the same Cid, a new one or none at all.

That's a good question. Is he actually the only Cid to die in a FF game?

Good to hear, hopefully he'll have a show-stealing cameo scene. :p

Didn't Cid die in FFII too? In FFVI, you can either save Cid or let him die. In FFXII, the other Cid survived, but Balthier's father died.

Ah yes, I forgot you could kill off FFVI Cid. I don't remember FFII Cid dying, but it's been a while and a lot of characters did die in that game.

Well if FFXII could have two Cids, I don't see why two different titles of the same universe couldn't have one Cid each!

With the time travel aspect, it is certainly possible that they could go back in time to an era where FFXIII Cid is alive. Or they could even go to a future where there is a new Cid.

Ooooh, I hope one of the side missions is to save Cid. That would be oodles of fun!

I'm predicting Sahz will only have some minor screentime, I'm guessing he'll show up in the opening of the game, disappear to help start a city somewhere on Pulse, get mentioned a few times by Hope or Snow and then probably show up sometime towards the end in a Big Damn Heroes Moment, then he'll just be an NPC you can chat with on your airship until the end.

Its possible they may just introduce a new Cid, with a possible name variation.

Yeah him and Dhaj are in one of the trailers that was released a few weeks ago, in an airship of some sort.

I thought that was a flashback to XIII, it was so brief.

I'm ok with Sazh only having a minor role. He was definately the most cancerous of the main characters in FF13.

Seriously? I actually thought he was the best, or one of the best.

The prize of most cancerous I'd have to award to Vanille. :p

Sazh being awesome is like, the one thing that FFXIII fans and haters alike can universally agree on.

Word, he really is the best character in the whole thing. Honest, pure, isn't take so seriously like the rest of the cast is, and was easily the best performance of the cast. It was easy to tell where all the other cast members were going except him, which is what made his chapters so good, despite being stuck with plot device/ shameless fanservice Vanille. Even I can't say anything bad about him...
