I just received these (http://www.bladecenter.com/paul-chen-zatoichi-stick-sword-SH1014.aspx)three (http://www.bladecenter.com/paul-chen-tiger-katana-SH1204.aspx) swords (http://www.bladecenter.com/paul-chen-tiger-elite-katana-SH6006KFG.aspx) that I ordered a few weeks ago. The third one is a gift for a friend. I love them. Since I'm in a slightly better mood now and I'm getting over that cheating whore, I thought it would be nice to share. Also, I have nothing better to do. I believe praise is in order.

I don't understand this at all.

I own a Paul Chen 'practical knightly' sword, a European-style single-handed weapon. Nice piece of work, sturdy and unassuming. I got good mileage out of it back when I still trained and sparred regularly, and it'll still be good when I eventually get back into action.

Once, this hooker stole my sword off me. I was like "Give me my long sword, ho!"

Well, long story short, my girlfriend and I both killed ourselves.

Chilling. A wonderful anecdote, if I do say so myself.

What does one do with such swords in this day and age? Display?

The Zatoichi sword is mainly for display, yes. The other two are for display and occasional sparring. We try not to use the expensive ones too much, but sometimes it's difficult to resist. These aren't the best for sparring, but they are well above-average. And if someone breaks in then I have a much more intimidating weapon than a handgun, based on my presence. Imagine you're a thief and you broke in to a man's house while you think he's away from home. He walks in the room. Knife clip easily visible in his pocket, KABAR handle sticking out of his boot, restored Single Action Army in its holster on his right side, and a Paul Chen tiger katana in its sheath on his left. Would you stay there?

I would be much more scared of a gun than a sword; you're not Miyamoto Musashi. You probably just look crazy.

No, but I have studied him. I've read The Book of Five Rings several times, as well as other texts by him and countless others. And I received first place in both my last fencing and kenjutsu tournaments. It's hard not to be afraid of someone with one third-degree and three second-degree black belts from separate martial arts just hanging in their living room. I have a very threatening presence, I've been told.

Hmm... Despite my faith in my EoFF brethren, I never post pictures of myself online. It's an irrational fear of mine. That and swimming.
