I looked for another entrance already & it only has the one I'm stumped!I'm assuming you have the objective marker turned on, right? Why not just follow where it points you? It is literally telling you to walk through a broken wall with branches?

Yes. Also I didn't get a big group of Stormcloak soldiers either, just me, the commander with the bear skin on his head, & the Stormcloak soldier who escapes Helgen. When we enter the ruins they can't get past it either. Then I went back outside to look for another way in came back inside the other 2 basically walked through the wall.
This is my 2nd playthrough so I'm aware of how the quest is supposed to work. After googling the problem a few times I'm not the only one with this problem either.

Yeah, the game is full of bugs and glitches. I guess keep googling and see if anyone has found a fix. I've had several problems that I was able to fix by messing around with files or even just using the console.

There doesn't seem to be any other runes or caves that may be connected to it near by no! I'm playing on PS3 so I assume a console fix is not an option

You leave via a different hole in the ground. Might be worth a go finding that, though I strongly doubt it'll work.

I'd still try fast traveling to the nearest location and then walking back. Reloading saves and fast traveling seem to be the fix for a lot of bugs like this according to Elder Scrolls Wikia.

UESP needs a facelift and some breast implants, then I'll give it a go. Maybe.
Well, I killed Faendal last night. Caught him strolling out of my house like no one's business, again, and I'd finally had it. Followed him into the woods between Riverwood and Whiterun and shot him in the ass with an arrow. Then when he came at me I let my attorney, James F. Atronach, do all the talking.

NorthernChaosGod
01-24-2012, 06:26 PM

Quindiana Jones

Just through 20K at a Master Destruction trainer because I'm impatient and want the Expert spells. Even though I knew I could afford it, I couldn't help but mourn spending my money. :(
And I couldn't just pickpocket it back because there's a 0% chance once the money gets too high. So, naturally, I tried killing her, but apparently she's essentially or whatever. :colbert:
Welp, I need a divorce.
Caught that mentally challenged woodcutter just staring at the side of my house a bit ago, then realized he was staring into a window. Then I thought "Huh, my wife's in there. She's also a whore..." and then I set him aflame with my fire breath. Nearby guard didn't like that too much, but I didn't care, I called down lightning upon him. Subsequently, lightning started hitting other people in the street, and this evolved into a full on bloodbath. No one, save for children or essentials, escaped my wrath. I even went up to Dragonsreach just to slap the Jarl around a bit. I especially enjoyed taking out my anger on Belethor. I did come back and I brought a fist full of fire with me!
Finally, I made my way into the Bannered Mare. I killed everyone I came into contact with, except for one man. Same Guevenne took one look at me, said something quite shrilly about a drinking contest, and practically punched me through the roof, thus ending my killing spree.
In truth, by the time I got to Sam I had completely forgotten what caused the spree to begin with, but I remembered once the game loaded my last save as I stood staring at the woodcutting simpleton watching stupidly at whatever was going on on the other side of that window as if nothing had ever happened.
I think maybe I'll just give my wife to Boethiah this time around, and run off to Solitude with Aela.

I wish I could try and fight Sam, that'd be dope.
I've caught that stupid woodcutter leaving my house once before, while he seems to hang around my house quite a bit as well, and I don't like it one bit. It's at this point I'm thinking of divorcing Ysolda with the power vested in me by the State of Legendary Daedric Sword and marrying Aela.

Ugh, Belethor is another one. Annoying prick. Someone, somewhere in the Bethesda offices during the making of Skyrim, thought "well, we've got this amazing world filled with intrigue and adventure. As we all know, too much of a good thing can make gamers entitled pricks, so let's populate this magical land almost entirely with massive assholes." Fuck Belethor, Nazeem, Lydia and everyone else in this godforsaken place.
Well, everyone except my new Khajiit follower (pro-tip: all followers are dicks to you, except the Khajiit ones). I've finally come to terms with the death of my last companion, Kharjo, and have decided that th best way to get past the whole thing is to deck out another Khajiit in his armour. J'zargo is my new partner in crime heroism, though I've now enchanted the armour to resist magic. Not falling for that old trick again!

You make me sick.
There are far worse NPCs than J'zargo, most of which have already been identified in this very thread. I hold a special place in my heart for the Khajit and Argonian NPCs, they're too few and far between imo. It gets tiresome listening to that faux-Schwarzenegger accent the many citizens of Skyrim seem to sport.
On the subject of voices, am I the only person who finds it absolutely magical that Jason Marsden is a commonly heard voice? Every time I encounter one of his characters my subconscious withdraws back to the days that Boy Meets World was still on the air. Good times. :jess:

Imperials. Say what you will about the Empire but at least Solitude doesn't have a ghetto. Ulfric's a stupid jerk anyway. I'm glad I killed him and then took his clothes and married my wife in them.
Unrelated, I went to do a 'find the source of power' quest and the barrow I went to had a subplot going on involving a Redguard and Argonian treasure hunters. Every time I feel like I'm just about done with the game content-wise, I run up on a location that has a whole story going on and get pulled in again. :jess: Then again I haven't done any of the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood questlines. I'm saving those for my next character: a racist, hate-filled Dark Elf whose fervor for worshiping the Daedric Princes leads him to kill each and every priest of the Divines that he meets. A charming fellow.
Un-unrelated, is it me or do half the sub-plots that take place in crypts or tombs involve someone trying to learn necromancy and resurrect a loved one/raise an army of undead/some variation of this? I swear I've run into like three or four in the last two nights of playing.
Yeah, I was all for joining a rebellion until he was all "NATIVE PRIDE" and then I was like, "Dude, I was the Nerevarine, smurf that." and joined up with the Imps.

Went Stormcloak after the whole "we're going to behead you anyway" incident at Helgen. Then, halfway through Jagged Crown, I completed the Dark Brotherhood questline and realised that all the Penitus Oculatus agents are Balthier and immediately changed to Imperials. As I said before, I'll probably side with the Stormcloaks when I do my Ba'gamnan playthrough.
What the Stormcloaks like to forget is that the Empire is the only thing keeping the Dominion out of Skyrim.
Not doin' too good a job of that what with the existence of a Thalmor Embassy and the Aldmeri Inquisition goin' on.
Quindiana Jones
01-27-2012, 09:22 AM
The Concordat was accepted because the only other option was absolute destruction, which wouldn't help anyone in the Empire. The Thalmor would have taken Cyrodiil and would be attacking Skyrim from two sides. Skyrim would fall, lots of people would die. Emperor Titus II, a pretty cool guy, knew this so accepted the terms with the intention of rebuilding their strength and launching a massive counterattack, then Ulfric Stormtwat (an unwitting pawn of the Dominion, specifically installed so as to destabilise the Empire and make everyone more easy to take over after the civil war) gets in a huff and ruins everything.

What the Stormcloaks like to forget is that the Empire is the only thing keeping the Dominion out of Skyrim.Well that's good, I'd hate it if the Dominion showed up and began kidnapping Skyrim's citizens and placing them in torture dungeons at will OH WAIT. :doublecolbert:

Seriously fuck the Imperials, bunch of ponces licking the boots of elves. I had pretty much decided to side with the stormcloaks from the start, whoever mentioned the whole Helgen thing I agree with. That didn't sit well. Then the Dark Brotherhood pretty much settled it for me, my first crew I worked for, my "family", I would have done anything for those fucks and well, you know how that turns out. Pretty much sealed the deal for me, every Imperial must die. And christ I hate the Thalmor. And elves in general. Fuck all of them. :colbert:

I can't be the only one who is SICK TO FUCKING DEATH of endless Dwarven indentikit cut & paste dungeons called Ijsenfindijlfnxcjiszel and have absolutely nothing of interest in there apart from bits of metal that are too heavy and enemies that look like giant golden ovaries?
Here's a basic runthrough of every one of these dungeons:
1. Kill bandits at the entrance
2. Kill golden ovaries inside
3. Kill Falmer deeper inside
4. Leave
At least the caves have challenging enemies (Draugr Overlords) and at the very least fucking door puzzles or something. And they don't take 45 minutes of running through miles of identical corridors of pistons, getting occasionally jumped by a robot spider that falls to pieces under anything heavier than a small breeze in their direction.
I'm sorry, I just spent about an hour trudging through the latest one only to discover my prize was a greater soul gem and a small door which just led back outside less than 100 yards from the entrance.

01-27-2012, 04:50 PM
The one to find the Elder Scroll is pretty fun, though that may be due to the massive jump that you can take to skip a half hour's trudging. But yeah, "custom made dungeons" was never going to be true with a company like Bethesda.

Just encountered a Draugr Death Overlord. (No I don't mean the vanilla Draugr Overlord or Deathlord or whatever, this is a step even higher than those assholes!) My first reaction was to hit him with a blast of the old Fus. His reaction to spying me was exactly the same thing. It ended up like that scene in Episode 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DDSDPZN8zk) when Obi-Wan and Anakin try to force push each other at the same time, and then both get sent flying. It was great.
Also what is it about Dawnstar and Winterhold that means that a dragon shows up whenever I do? I feel like Zidane from FFIX. This time in Winterhold I killed a dragon on top of a rooftop. A guard, seeing the battle was over, walked up to a dead colleague and announced "I'm going to find whoever did this". With great comedic timing, the dead dragon slid off the roof and fell onto his head. Good job guard, you found the murderer!

Has anyone started the quest with the drinking contest in Riften? I passed out and ended up in the Shrine of Dibella in Markarth after a drunken party - the snooty priestess forced me to clean up the mess and pay her almost 200 gold for info on where the guy who challenged me went with the staff I won. Seeking revenge, I made a bigger mess of all of her pots and shit and sneaked around, stealing all of her offerings to Dibella. Then I went outside and a tourist from Cyrodiil shopping at a jeweler's stall was killed right in front of me by an agent of the Forsworn, whom I helped the guards dispatch. Then some guy gave me a note which "must have dropped from my pocket" which read "Meet me in the Shrine of Talos." I headed there and he told me a tearful tale of how his father was murdered by the Forsworn, but now that he had his own family, he needed help to bring them down. Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

You can drink with me, if you're ever in Ottawa that is.
...And if you ever come to Sweden, I'll teach you how to drink like a real nord!
Kinda releated fact: I've got a bottle of the world's third most expensive beer. But I only share it with vikings.
This sounds like the better offer. As long as we drink and I don't end up halfway across the country in the morning.
...well, I can't guarantee that won't happen, but it should be fine... probably. The beer is only 27%. :greenie:
You can join in too, Vincent.
Will he wake up married to a goat ?
Hopefully. Got to get married someday.
Sounds like you guys got your adventures sorted then. Goatsex and boozing, nice.

Ancient Shrouded Cowl has glitched in my 2nd save, ah Bethesda how you ruin my fun some times!
This glitch ended up having a silver lining! I've noticed I can equip either a helmet or another cowl along with the Ancient Shrouded Cowl. I'm wearing it & the Shrouded Cowl for a total head armour rating of 102 & 55% extra bow damage. This couple with my Daedric Bow with damage 128 is pretty tasty

I was actually planning on taking advantage of a similar glitch later. Apparently you can wear a Falmer helmet along with a Dragon Mask or a circlet. I'm going to push my enchanting/alchemy/smithing even further even faster than before. :monster:

I few months ago I had a follower named Illia. I accidentally banished her from my service and was unable to recruit her back into my service. I had all but forgotten about her until recently when I found her wandering in the area surrounding Winterhold(?) which is nearly all the way across the map from where she is supposed to be after being dismissed: Darklight Tower. I still can't recruit her, but it was nice to finally find her.

I actually killed Lydia by accident with one misplaced power attack. We'd found a group of bandits near a lake in two joined towers, and just when I thought I had found one of them after an epic battle, I swung my trusty mace of Molag Bal and killed her in one hit. Immediately I stripped her of her clothes and other possessions in grief and dismay, and, finding myself grossly over-encumbered, dropped dragon bones and other miscellanea off the tower steps into the freezing depths below. Ah, Lydia. My first and last love. *sob*

Both saves are at level 45, 1st save took me 130 plus hours to get there but I didn't level grind any skill they just improved as I needed to use them in comparison to save 2 where I'm at 60ish hours but grinded quite a few skills to get there.

Love the game, I've done the grand majority of the quests and still love to play through on multiple characters. I don't have xbox live or Internet access at my place at the moment so I still haven't gotten the patches to fix the major bugs yet so every now and again I'll have to reboot or give up on a quest line. Damned bugs.
All in all it's an amazing game and I'll probably play it until the end of time or I get aggravated enough with the errors to destroy it.

I don't know what it is about Morthal, but it's the only place I've had to fight two dragons at once and it's happened several times already.
Since I haven't had a whole lot of time to play consistently recently, I've just been leveling up alchemy finally (it's currently 97). I go from town to town buying up all their alchemy ingredients, selling off potions to pay for them until I have a good supply of ingredients, then I make more potions and repeat. I wish giants would respawn more quickly though; their toes rock for making potions. :( Anyway, I have a routine and always fast travel from Solitude to Morthal on my supply runs, where I have to fight an Ancient Dragon and an Elder Dragon pretty often now.

It helps if you finish the Thieves' Guild questline first, you'll have access to different fences that carry more gold than standard merchants without wasting any perks. After that I used the perks to invest in merchants, sell stolen goods to any merchant, and have them carry an extra 1000 septims.
I also stole pretty much everything I could and I sell off most everything. Although grinding up Smithing, Enchanting, and Alchemy helped me get up to my first 100,000 pretty early. If you haven't already done that, you can enchant the daggers from Smithing with Banish and they're worth quite a bit.
