View Full Version : Devil May Cry reboot
Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrgUYYaMZTw).
Thoughts? I can see loads of fans being pissed at the change to character.

I hate the way it looks but I love the DMC series so I guess I'll judge it on how it plays
Is it really right to call it a reboot, seeing as its a prequel?
I hate the way Dante looks but eh rest of it looks alright.
The article I read deemed it a reboot, though I must say I don't know all that much. I was hoping others would have knowledge to share!

People get so swept up about how Dante looks that they forget the fact that this game looks more like a step back for the series then a step forwards. Doesn't look like a bad game but after 5 years we should be getting better. Shouldn't have been given to Ninja Theory in my opinion. The team at Capcom just needed time to think things out.

At first I didn't like it, but it's grown on me since the latest trailer ("You don't [mess] with a god" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxk1K6uWkFs)) I'm digging the music, I like the urban setting, and from the poster in the amusement park saying "gluttony is good", I have inferred that the areas will be based on the seven deadly sins, which is a pretty interesting concept.
Dante's design seems to have improved since the initial trailer, so that's also a good sign. The only real problem I have with this game is that the gameplay seems watered down, and consequently what it will mean for the future of the series.

I'm... no so sure what to think right now honestly.
I just hope it's over the top, unforgiving, and a hell of a lotta fun.

It's not really a prequel, Capcom announced it takes place in a different world (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/113997-New-Devil-May-Cry-Set-In-Parallel-World) and that this Dante is different (he apparently has Angelic powers along with his Devil powers) which is probably due to the serious backlash the game has been getting. Personally, I wonder why Ninja Theory was tapped to develop the game, their track record doesn't look so great. I'll judge it when I play it. The series has always had inconsistent quality issues.

So it's essentially Capcom Ultimate Universe?
