Yesterday I spent a good amount of time in FFV trying to defeat one boss. If you haven't played this yet I guess it's not much of a spoiler, but eventually you'll come to a boss that consists of several bombs and when you kill one the other will revive the other before it dies or sometimes all the others. After a second time of seeing them being revived I knew I had to take them out by killing them all at once this took several tries. At first I was deciding to use a Summoner, with a black mage and beastmaster, but I had realized that my Bartz level as a Summoner was too low to summon Shiva which I had just recently obtained.

From that point I changed to two black mages and a time mage. I used the time mage to haste the black mages and just let the black mages blizzara the bombs to death. This did not work however because as some died earlier than others. I changed tactics again and this time went with three black mages. This didn't work either. The bombs didn't die fast enough and some used self-destruct before I could kill any of them myself. Again I changed tactics and went back with the two black mage and time mage set up this time I used the time mage to speed up only 1 black mage and herself, but also to stop the bombs with...stop. This was working until one bomb had self-destructed. I was thinking it was probably just luck and it was so I tried the same tactics and this time one of the bombs decided to physically attack me instead. On my next turn I was able to kill them all at once with Bartz's next turn.

I was wondering did anyone else use the same tactic? If not what did you use and how long did it take you to come to this tactic and beat this boss?

I don't remember my party setup, but what I do remember was using a Summoner.
I remember the summon being either Titan or Shiva. It's all messed up in my head right now. It seems I have to replay the game.

Alternatively you can always just break a handful of rods.

I beat it on the second try with 4 black mages. (first try was with my real party that all got wrecked) I had my blizzara magic target them all so if one was to self destruct it wouldn't be too harmful. I kept a close eye on the damage I had done to make sure it was kept as even as possible. I could see how you would have a lot of trouble with it.

EDIT: also, one of my black mages had white magic as a sub-ability for just-in-case.

How'd you have 4?

Does the order you go to the meteorites matter?

It's your choice. Getting titan first can be helpful.

You can silence them as well, though it may take a few tries.

Yep I got the Titan first then. Thanks for clearing that up.
With Titan it is easy.

There are a lot of different strategies for taking on this boss even though you only have three party members at the time. My personal method involves using the Summoner job, which I see others have talked about, too; I think there would be a valid strategy centering around almost every job obtained, even White Mage, as you can cast Silence on them.

What would Silence prevent?

It prevents them from casting arise everytime one of them gets killed.

I need to think before I post sometimes.
