WEIRD subject, I know, but since guys are allowed to start threads about My Little Pony, I thought why not.

Who is your favorite Disney "Princess"? And why.

I can't decide for now, so I'll wait and see what you guys have to say. o:

There are ten official Disney princesses.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/27/PrincessLineup.jpg

My favorite princesses are all the rebellious ones: Ariel, Rapunzel, Mulan, Belle, and Jasmine. Ariel gets top tier because she's a mermaid and that is just too smurfing magical for me to resist. I find Rapunzel very charming, though, and her movie has the best characters overall, I think.

Tiana is pretty cool. I thought her movie was a little lackluster. You'll notice the best Disney princess movies all employ Glen Keane and feature music by Alan Menken. Why Princess and the Frog decided to go with Randy Newman for their musical scores is beyond me; that guy make some catchy tunes but his work does not evoke feelings of passion and whimsey.

Mulan, bar none. And if you disagree then fuck you.

I don't think Mulan qualifies as a Princess, but if she does she's my second because she's a tough bitch while still being feminine and then you have Jasmine who is outright banging!

Though she's not a princess in her movie, she's an official member of the Disney Princess line, so she totally counts.

P.S. This is my Christmas present to myself.

Have you seen Cinderella III? I liked her much better after that movie. Cinderella and Snow White are otherwise my least favorites though; they're fairly boring ladies.

Pocahontas isn't really a princess either, is she? In the sense, couldn't almost every "female" character in a Disney movie be included on that list? I mean, Nala, a lion, "marries" Simba and becomes a "princess", right? I mean, the freaking title of the movie she is starring in is called The Lion KING. x)

Shlup

It just depends on how you look at it. There are the Disney characters that were born princesses, the ones who married princes/kings, and ones who didn't do either but are still cool. The official Disney Princess line includes all of the girls in the picture I posted. Jane, Esmerelda, Alice, Nala, and Wendy aren't a part of that line. And then there's Kida and Eilonwy, who are princesses, but still aren't a part of the Disney Princess line.

I don't really know what Disney's criteria is for picking favorites.

Mulan and Jasmine, they are the only two princesses who arent like "save me!!!!"
plus mulan crossdresses, kills an entire army, and has a pet dragon.

mulan all the way

Also, whether or not a Disney character can be a "Disney Princess" or not depends on whether or not they fall into what Disney CEOs call "The Princess Mythology", which is, from what I understand after years of research (no really) being a "Disney Princess" doesn't really have anything to do with actually being a princess, it has to do with:

- Being a main character (or strong supporting character) in your film
- Falling in love with a dude
- Having animal friends
- Whether you sing or not (because the bulk of Disney princess crap is sing along videos and music collections)
- It helps if you appear in more than one outfit (dressup dolls)
- No animals allowed (because animals can't have animal friends)

This is why Mulan gets to be a Disney princess, while actual princesses like Tiger Lily (no singing, no animal friends, not a main character), Megara (no animal friends, only one outfit), Kida (no singing, no animal friends), Maid Marian (animal), Nala (animal) and Eilonwy (no singing, only one outfit) don't get to be part of it.

The only one who gets me is Esmeralda (from The Hunchback of Notre Dame); she fits all the crietria; she sings, has more than one outfit, she falls in love with a dude, and hangs out with a goat, yet she still doesn't get to be a Disney Princess. Maybe they just thought she wasn't popular enough? Ho hum.

Pocahontas isn't really a princess either, is she?
She's the Native American equivalent, as she's the daughter of her tribe's chieftain, so yeah, I'd consider her a princess.

Technically speaking were talking about the animated ones right. Cause if I had to go with one in particular it would have to be Princess Tamina from Prince of Persia 0_0 YES, she's Hawt, BUT since were only talking about the animated ones, then Princess Jasmine is my favorite.

Oh, man, I laughed until I snorted. Thanks for that.

Jazmine be my favorite, I always liked the voice actress they chose for that role. (don't look her up though....seriously don't it'll spoil everything. Don't say I didn't warn you).
So...sultry.

Mulan is great too, as is Pocahontas, who is, in my opinion, the most exemplary "princess" of the bunch in that she is more regal than the others, more mature.

yeah, I didn't give her enough credit at first, but she just keeps getting better.
Good in Doubt
Awesome in Sunshine Cleaning
Killer in The Fighter, even if the accent was a little off.

Let's hope she can pull off Lois Lane.

You'll have to add, "Doesn't ever turn into a real person" to your list of requirements, DMKA, because Giselle is the epitome of Disney Princess in every other way.

You are a lady, but you like Belle only if she is nearly showing us her panties and her nipples are about to fall out?

You have a kid, so you aren't gay......
then again.... my aunt has two kids and shes a lesbian....

awww, there went all the fun...I was totally thinking 17 not 7. not that I was thinking about a 17 yr old in a Jazmine costume, you misunderstand me entirely. I mean, I thought...the...costume was uh, 17 years ago you wore, but, costume fits pretty much, not a kid, that's not, ya know, i mean, like when you were basically an adult and, then uh, the thing with the costume, not creepy at all.

The reason they didn't make her an official Disney Princess is because they would have had to pay the actress for using her likeness in all of the Disney Princess products.

It's a tough choice for me because the quality of the film also influences my decision, even though I guess it shouldn't.
I'd say my top three are: Mulan, Snow White, and Belle. In no order. I'd make a top ten but it's like 2:00am and I'm about to go to sleep.
