English Translation. Melodies of Life ~ The Layers of Harmony (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mNOJpN_qOQ).
Japanese Original. Melodies of Life ~ Final Fantasy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weE_LfHHty8&feature=related).

I've been a huge Final Fantasy IX fan forever and I recently... acquired :shifty: the OST. While listening through some of my favorites I noticed tracks titled "Melodies of Life ~ Final Fantasy" and "Melodies of Life ~ The Layers of Harmony". Which are pretty much lyric'd versions of the song Garnet sings in FFIX. I had no idea these songs existed and I'm not disappointed in them at all. The singer has an absolutely beautiful voice and both versions flow pretty well with the original "la la la" that Garnet sings, although I feel that the Japanese version does a better job at it (I also love the inclusion of the Prologue in it).

I much prefer the Japanese version. Although my absolute favorite is an acoustic guitar version that I found on youtube once.

I'm baffled that any FFIX fan wouldn't know the existance of Melodies of Life..

I don't know if I'm missing something, but doesn't the English translation play during the credits of the North American version?

The english version plays at the end of the english game, and any ff fan would have immediately googled the japanese version after they finished the game.

Did you just turn your ps off during the credits or something? If so you make me sick

However im pretty sure Layers of Harmony (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77T8CR5arXs) didnt appear in the game. (the layers of harmony you linked isnt actually layers of harmony, it's just melodies of life in english)

I guess I must've turned off the game at that credits, which does sound a lot like me

I remember thinking that it was a really nice gesture to allow the singer to sing both the English and the Japanese versions of the song. I like consistency.

Final Fantasy X-2 had to look for a new singer for its songs as the Japanese singer could not speak English well enough to perform convincingly.
