The Plan!

Friday 18th May - Hotel Meetup
For those staying in the area (or nearby who fancy it), we'll be meeting up at the Best Western Dulles Airport Inn (45440 Holiday Drive Sterling, VA 20166) where a few of us are staying (myself, Jiro and Laddy) from about midday and then probably go hang out at the local bar (O'Malleys Pub) for food and drinks, then probably general mischeif.

Saturday 19th May - Downtown DC
Meet up at 10:30am at the D and 7th Station (L'Enfant Plaza) and then tour the local sights before grabbing a bite to eat. If you're not sure where you're going give us a shout when you hit town and I'm sure either myself or a local (I'm looking at Agent Proto here) can help give directions.

Sunday 20th May - National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center
I want to go see the space shuttle DAMNIT. Time will probably be decided either Saturday or on the day, but it's only a thirty minute bus ride from the airport so it shouldn't be too difficult to get to. If you're travelling from downtown you'll need to take the 5A from either D and 7th or Rosslyn (at the cost of $6 each way, exact change only) to Dulles International Airport then transfer to the Dulles 2 Dulles Connector Bus at Curb 2E (cost 50 cents each way, exact change again).

in terms of free things to do, DC is pretty awesome. lots of museums, historically relevant places, a relatively large city. a variety of food is available. If you bring your ID you can see the arlington cemetary...

With the dates nearly upon us, we need to arrange where and when to meet each other!

For those staying at the hotel (I think it's just Laddy now) I've let Jiro know the details, as a side note it's six dollars to catch the bus to downtown DC from the hotel, exact change only and takes about an hour, just as an FYI.

As for those day tripping try and let me know days and approx times of arrival asap so I can attempt to coordinate things a bit.

What do people fancy doing? Visiting the sights? Bars? Shopping? Insulting Del Murder via the medium of fry writing? I do fancy a visit to see the Space Shuttle tbh.

Cool, well I propose for Saturday that we hit up downtown, we can all meet up at the D & 7th Station (Also known as the L'Enfant Plaza) at half ten (10:30am) and head from there as we'll only be a stones throw from the main run of monuments and then if we need we can hop the Metro into central for more foody type things?

From my quick reccy yesterday it's twenty-five minute walk either way down the mall (I think it's called that) to get to either the Lincon Memorial or the White House. Then it's about a 45-50 minute walk end to end. Once you head past the Washington Monument through you have to be prepared to walk everywhere as the nearest metro station seems to be the Smithsonian one.

Also I hear there is a zoo, although I couldn't find it when I looked :S

For the record, I'm not a DC local, so I'm not exactly the person to ask for directions. There should be free maps/brochures at Metro to help out. Had such a wonderful time in DC, was ace finally meeting Jiro, Laddy and Agent Proto and much good times were had. Thanks you guys for putting up with me for nearly a whole week and showing me such a brilliant time. Also thanks FOA for sorting out the idea of a East Coast Meetup and planting the seed of me coming over in my head, even though you couldn't make it you're still way to awesome for words :D!

Also don't worry, we showed the picture (provided by a generous benefactor) in the other photo to many, many bewildered people in the DC area so they could experience the true awesomeness! :p
