Rules I Didn't Write
• Unless specifically mentioned in your Assignment PMs, all Mafia related discussion must happen in the Official game thread. Please do not discuss the game using instant messengers, IRC, Private Messages, voice chats, phone calls, snail mail etc. etc. No, we can't enforce this because we can't spy on you, but we would appreciate it if you followed this simple rule.

• Do not reveal your role privately to each other. You can of course role claim as part of your strategy in this thread. Just don't do it outside the game.

• Play nice. Even if you are using second accounts, don't resort to flaming and whatnot. Kill each other without resorting to being mean.

• Please make all posts in the Game thread under your specific Mafia accounts.

• Play fair. Also known as the "don't be an ass" rule. Being an ass includes cheating, diverging completely from your assigned role, going back and deleting or editing all your posts, using asshole-ish methods to find out information about other people's roles, etc. I reserve the right to replace or modkill as I see fit if you're not playing fairly.

• Do NOT use your Mafia accounts to post in any non-Mafia related threads.

• You CANNOT abstain from voting!

Regarding roles and accounts:

• All of the roles were assigned randomly to a player and then those were randomly assigned to the character.

• Don’t roleplay, it’s annoying. I know it is. Play your character how you want though. There will be no penalty to anyone who does role play.

• Don’t share with others who you are or what your password is or what your role is. This makes it lose its fun-ness. Think for yourselves guys! You don’t need anyone else. (not valid for shared accounts)

Most EoFFers are working/college age now. These 12 hr day/night phases don't quite work well when most of us are sleeping and then proceed to work/school. It might make the game slower but maybe we should extend some of these day/nights.

Well, hello there! Eyes on's Greatest Ever Mafia Player™ Psychotic here!

I feel legitimately bad for the couple of half decent townies. You sure are taking a whoopin' because of your team mates. Honestly, when a town comes down to "town leader = scum!" or "being aggressive = scum!" then it is no wonder it finds itself it is in the position it is in now :lol:

look back at every mafia game where I pulled off a legendary result for the town. I was a leader and aggressive. That is why I am the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be. Engage with each other. Discuss things. Don't seek to quell anyone who is loud. Read what they are saying. They are giving their intentions - good or ill - away in the words they use.

Some people lead, some people are quiet. It's irrelevant. Look at Sir Lancealot. He plays this way in every game. Every single game. Scum or town, he does the same things. What's relevant is what people say and when.

oh and for god's sake don't say "duh i guess this guy is scummy doop i will vote for him okey done for the day :)" like you have been. Give examples and reasons. THIS IS MAFIA.

If you don't like what I say then I'll gladly retract everything and declare anyone my superior if they gain a town win using the strategies I've just made fun of. I'll be giving out free coaching sessions and autographs after you lose!

I miss the days when most people played like that. Where they had reasoning and well thought out... ness when they posted! That thread should be much bigger and far less mafia than it has right now. Being vocal is never a mafia tactic (well it can be used basically but whatever). Being vocal is the only thing a town really can do because they don't have the advantage of being vocal with their fellow scummies. By staying quiet you guys have gotten nowhere. 7 dead townies and no mafia? I'm ashamed I even looked at that thread. Get your act together kids! Don't be afraid to write something long, it helps the rest of the town understand your thoughts and form their own. Back in my day hurr murrr hurrr...

If I ever host again I'm going to put some "There is a two sentence regulation. I'll be honest, I was genuinely in a moral quandary with Elizabeth/Simon. I had seen this thing before in Mafia III - the last time I got to be mafia in a main game. Yes, it has been that long. Slowpoke hacked other accounts and did the same spelling mistakes between them, all while voting for me with absolutely no way of knowing I was scum. I thought it was groundhog day. I was not amused :lol:

I originally thought Elizabeth was a cop and investigated me until Simon showed up and started speaking for her and using the same exact reasons to lynch me. I saw KaiserDragon post as Simon (and delete the posts afterwards) and I didn't think he'd hack an account. So the only conclusion was that he had some new EoFF member on his team (cult/second set of masons) and he was leading them in the posts. But I will admit the idea of him hacking someone did not totally go away - sorry KD for thinking that, but like I say, been through it before - and I was really concerned about it. I was going to PM the mods and ask them to get a CK who was not playing to investigate, but then I didn't want them to give a role away to me by saying "don't worry, bitch be cool" I decided just to declare war on him and hope for the best. :monster:

I stand by the point we made earlier about how talking is not a mafia tactic. The reason we walked all over you lot was because none of you talked. I would have acted almost exactly the same as I did had I been town. Pointing out who is suspicious is not a mafia tactic. It allows others to understand and agree/disagree with what you say. So when KD had that "pointing fingers" logic against us, I wanted to throw things at him. But we got him in the end :monster:

Really, no one had much reason for any of the lynches. But that's cause none of you discussed it. No one really brought up anything. The way I had poked at Hypo was more productive than anything. Yes he outed himself as a miller but it got the thread and town somewhere. When you poke and prod is when people slip up. Offense is the best defense imo.

Speaking of things that people accused us of being scummy for despite it not being scummy. My favourite tactic, regardless of alignment, is to be incredibly snide and abusive to anybody who accuses or votes for me, and to try to pour suspicion onto them. In fact I think I am much, much worse with this when I am town so I was amused to be accused of being scummy for this too. :lol: As a townie, I don't like being accused as I have to play defense rather than offence, so I will work you over to discredit you and put off anybody else who will consider accusing me. It helps the town... very slightly... which is how I justify it, but it's also damned fun. :greenie:

I can't believe Jesus made a mistake! :p I only played Genghis Khan. First time as Mafia, but I didn't play any different than I would have played as a Townie, with the exception that I used logic to throw people off the scent of the Mafia than to pin point them. I found it amusing how easy it was to diffuse the situation between Catherine and Shaka and get everyone to vote Saladin! :mwahaha:

I had a feeling someone would have seen me post that, as to why I was so sure you were scum (which I was dead on about) was because you kept pointing fingers at everyone, call it gut instinct, plus I watch alot of Poirot xD and I can usually figure out who the killer is just based on gut feeling, if however I went into the game and said "Cat is scum, why? cause of my gut feeling" they would have laughed me out of there and beat me to death with a barge pole or something, as for who I investigated, I had no idea about the whole insane cop thing (see Bolivar's post about why a cop would investigate themselves) so on the first night I investigated Hannibal, then you guys killed him the next day, you were smart in provoking my suspicions at Gandhi (:p) so the following night I investigated him, my reason for not posting on Lizzy much was cause I wanted to not be lynched, I could have used Bolivar as a meat shield (incase he invoked the wrath of the Mafians) and have him do all the pointing and arguing and seeing how you reacted on the 4th it was probably a wise move, then once Lance got lynched and flipped cop I was like... am I paranoid/naive? so I investigated myself on the THIRD night, if I was a more experienced player, you might have been successful in framing me on night 1 *cough* I would have been pissed at being given 2 opposing faction people >.>

As for my having to stop playing the game... work has been a bitch recently one of my managers left and now I find myself working every day of the week and feeling dead tired at the end of the day, to tired to contemplate playing Mafia.

I think the shortened days really harmed the town. Discussion is their weapon and when you reduce it, you reduce their power. I was also very surprised the Masons did not claim, but very pleased too. If I was a town mason in a group of three I would claim on Day 1 and name my partners! (and probably get nearly lynched for my troubles but that's nothing new ;))

Also tbf Laddy, I had a hell of a lot of fun and I got bit by the mafia bug big time, something which hasn't happened in years. I had never logged onto EoFF from work until then, that is how much I was enjoying myself. So you must've done something right! :)

I don't think we've ever had a set up that, in hindsight, didn't have any flaws. And I doubt we ever will.

You can say I played poorly, but the fact is that I didn't. I made a roleclaim that would have benifited both of out cops if they hadn't smurfed it up. And I didn't get lynched, I had most people convinced of my role, I wasmt likely to be a mafia target, and I probably would have pushed for catherine being lynched on day 3 if it hadnt been that I was exploded by a fellow townie.


@Jen: yes I smurfed up the role, but it wasnt an effective role in the firstplace as it required people to claim a power role. the reason I died in that one was because the remaining mafia ganged up on me.

Yeah, the roleblockers can only block actions. They can stop a cop from investigating and doctors from protecting, but can't really stop roles like a bulletproof from.... being bulletproof. It's a wasted use of a roleblock.

I find a lot of the time it depends on different variations in the rules. I think an EoFF mafia rule book wouldn't be a bad idea. I mean still let each individual decide the roles, theme, how many mafia, factions etc but house keeping issues like "Does not voting mean you automatically vote for yourself", "Should a majority vote be declared immediately when the last vote is cast or should players be ask to verify the majority". Mafia wikia & the mikeburnfire site are all well & good but, something like that on site here at EoFF, along with the basic roles on day phases, night phases & voting, would be great.

I think its up to each mod and applies to each game upon most decisions. Like the roleblock for example: Laddy considered it a night action after the death ergo it could be blocked as a night action. Dak on the other hand believed that he's dead, you can't block a dead person. Both had valid reasons for allowing or not allowing it.

And some mods aren't as active as others so like inactive votes and the like are harder to keep track of. If people would just post when they sign up for the game, you'd never need the rule. And the majority thing is called speed lynching, It's a tactic! Majority means day over, always, that's why you want to avoid speed lynching.

The vengeance kill happens at night as a formality - in literal terms it should happen just prior to the lynch. Which means it's still day time. Which means a roleblock attempt should not be able to happen as it is a night action. If we were to say alright the roleblock is a day time action too, then it should be witnessed by the crowd of people standing there. I'm under the impression that the actual function of the Prostitute is to sleep with someone so they forget to act. Sleeping with someone until they get hung doesn't sound very viable and in front of that crowd you would be witnessed and your role revealed.

Bah, well I just realized how this works. That after the game is over, you come back to this thread to post your thoughts. When the Mafia thread got locked I was crestfallen. I just sat there. I WANT TO TALK ABOUT HOW PISSED I AM!

Yeah, this was a horrible game to be in for my first ever Mafia game. Especially being grouped with the Masons who I had no reason whatsoever to question. I became suspicious of JustyassholeIhateyouforeveryoubastardwhoreofagorilla the last day and a half, but I could only think that he was just playing stupid, not playing dirty.

There were a lot of roles going on that I wasn't prepared for. I read the wiki, but I just didn't expect nearly everyone to have a specific role and so many powers, geez. I expected 85% vanilla with just a splash of hidden power here and there, so when I found out the Alexander was bulletproof I thought, ok, so maybe one more power player out there, who is it? Boy was I wrong. I should have known that the 21st edition of the game wasn't going to be so vanilla, but I didn't. Shame on me. It's all my fault. No really, a more experienced player in my position would have discovered Justy, and led the town against Catherine like I wanted to do from the beginning. I was swayed by evil mafia bastards whereas someone better would not have been.

In the end, I blame HC. When he turned up townie, and Miller at that, the way I had organized the game in mind just fell apart. I lost all ability to know wth people were doing. Nothing made any sense any more. If that's how a person's supposed to play the game, then...I don't know...

I want to play again. Right now. Getting that first game out of the way, despite that first game being a terrible tragedy, or comedy, probably both, is necessary, now I want to really play.

Cat posted early and then disappeared for a while. I found that suspicious, but not so much to say anything about it yet.

Keep in mind this is my first game of Mafia, so…

Lots of people say lots of meaningless things basically, but then Cat comes in and has this big insightful post that breaks down everything that had happened so far. So I thought to myself, this must be what an experienced player looks like. Definitely townie. But the fact that this was my first thought made me think instead that Cat was trying too hard to look townie. Hence, suspicious.

At this point I’m thinking that Cat is either A. a very experienced player showing everyone else how to be a townie. Or B. an experienced to very experienced Mafia trying to look very townie and control the game.

Notice I voted for Cat day two, so I’m not just making this up after the fact.

When Cat voted for Shaka right into the beginning of day 3 I knew she was mafia, but I didn’t know how to go about attacking her. I hoped that by voting with her I would draw something out, maybe something from her, maybe something from her fellow conspirators.

I do disagree with grilling itself being suspicious though, I think it's worth looking at why someone has taken an action rather than the action itself if that makes sense. I am probably going to be grilling people in the future, if I think the situation calls for it. It's just how I like to play this game I suppose!”

It worked to give me final proof for myself that she was dirty, but not enough to go on to convince other people.

Sadly I was a coward and was afraid to jump on Cat until I thought I had a chance of not getting on the Mafia’s radar. My first game, I didn’t want to go out early, ya know? I had hoped to hit Cat with a last second vote because I knew if I vote for her early when it would have pushed her into #1 vote getter range, she would have done something to make it stop. But then the whole Saladin thing happened which ruined my day 3, I didn’t know how to recover. If I’d needed more evidence, which I didn’t, it came anyway when Cat jumped on the Saladin bandwagon. For someone who so obviously knew about the game and was playing such a strong role in the game, there was no way that the Saladin vote was coming from anywhere but a Mafia perspective.

If I could have put the pieces together on that Saladin vote and realized that there was a traitor in the form of a stupiduglydoodoohead named Ieyasu, I might have been able to figure out who to target as allies to turn the game around on the last day, but Alex jumped in with that last vote before I had a chance to ruminate on the previous day’s vote.

You did such a great job on getting Alexander to be the swing vote on that last day, Justy. Ihateyouforever. I’ll never trust anyone ever again.

What's funny is the shaka vote, the day 2 analyzing post , the being respectful to others points and the saladin thing, I/Psy would have done the exact same moves had we been town lol I think it was the second time for the both of us to ever be mafia and when we're town, that's how we play lol. Paul usually wins and most the time I at least make it to endgame. So it just amuses me that those actions were seen as scummy from.a first timer

I think I vocalised in posts the same way I always do, town or mafia. But our votes were utterly appalling for a townie so that should've been a big red flag I feel. Thank god I had an "It's you or me, sorry :shobon:" out for Saladin. Although I would've made the same vote for the same reason if I was town in that position too, so :monster:
