Can someone help me understand what the hell I'm doing wrong at that part when I'm gonna give the Water Ring to Ludman?
There's this stupid broad standing in the way of his door and she keeps telling me to hurry inside, but refuses to move.
This is what it looks like from my actual ROM file:

...and here's what it looks like for everyone else in all videos I can find:

I doubt that this is a bug, because why would a bug create a new text box?
So what is this?

You're playing a DQ game.

Please go into self-imposed exile.

I'm not really sure what you're doing wrong, dude. Sometimes fanslations like the one you're playing mess up the flags that let an NPC know hen it's supposed to do something different. This could be the case, or maybe you need to go upstairs to talk to his other daughter, or go to his vacation house instead. Maybe look around some other places as well, but in any case you can't go wrong with the excellent Nintendo DS version.

I remember something similar in Dragon Quest 2 for the NES as well, when you had to give Princess the Water Flying Clothes in order to get more Clothes or something like that.

Wow, that's crazy, never would've thought of that. Glad you found the solution, though.
