1. Go to google maps
2. Search your hometown state country and postcode
3. On the "more" button select zoom to this location until you are zoomed all the way in.
4. Select the zoom out minus sign on the side of the map.
5. Count how many zoom outs it takes before the name of your town vanishes.

Mine vanishes on the 9th zoom out

post the name of your home town too if you're not a paranoid freak like me

Oh god, so much work. Okay I'll do it.

I consider my hometown to be Gillette, Wyoming, even though I don't live there anymore. That one is 14 clicks till it's gone.

The town I live in now, 12. How'd you get 9? o.o

5

Edit: The town where I was born, and the real town I live 5 minutes away from both disappear after 14 clicks. I like my tiny town though. Nice and peaceful.

Objectively: 12
Subjectively: When I tell someone where I am from, and they've heard of it, you can visibly see their face drop.

Fifteen. Everyone in Citrus County, Florida has been to my hometown in Texas. Everyone in my hometown has been to Peoria, Illinois. So I wonder how many Peorians have been to Citrus County?

London literally disappears at 16 (the 17th click puts it outta there), and that's only because Google are too lazy to mark the capitol of the United Kingdom on the map. However if we went on the borough of where I grew up? Barnet Disappears at 11. If we go on the place I currently live? Wimbledon doesn't really ever appear because it's actually not called Wimbledon, it's called Merton. The biggest mark you get is Wimbledon Common which disappears at around 9 The only mark for Merton disappears at the same time.

It was 15 or 16, I kind of lost track. :p

It was at 15. What I don't get is how El Cajon stayed on the map until 17 clicks. Or Oceanside for that matter.

16. San Antonio Tejas.

Maybe they suck so much that Google wants to make them better?

I got 10 for my hometown of Mechanicsville, VA. 13 for Where I'm currently living in Clarksville TN. I think this test has more to do with how close you are to other major cities than your town's overall importance though. If you're near an urban area you kinda get swallowed in the sprawl.

It took 3. Ironically the little known skid row town right next to it took six zooms before it disappeared.

Eight clicks, and there's only 5,000 people :monster:

I was born in Atlanta. That takes 16 clicks to disappear.

I have spent most of my life in Sarasota, FL. That takes 14 clicks to disappear. Ironically it's not even the largest municipality in this county anymore, but it disappears after the largest one, North Port, because no one likes North Port and it's boring. Although not as boring as it used to be.
