I know nothing of FPS's, this is the first I've played since like, Wolfenstein and Hexxen. (and I barely played those) That said, the genre doesn't interest me. I got into this game because I heard just how crude it was in content matter, and I love crude, lowbrow humor and stupid shock value. That does it for me, and Duke is hilarious. I also love how he's the archetypal American badass people used to love in the nineties.

It all gets old pretty fast though, but I enjoy searching for things, (my mad RPG skills ((the game genre, not the rocket launcher)) makes finding ego Boosts and telephones a breeze...when I actually get passed fighting things) and I find that the FPS gameplay is pretty fun. Yeah I know, why get a game if you think it won't be fun...I figured I could adapt. I like shooting aliens, even if my skills are to be laughed at. Everyone's talking about how hard insane mode is, well I have the hardest time doing any fighting on easy.

What makes it awesome for me is watching broken porn DVD's and hucking frisbees around and hearing Duke get frustrated when he looses at pinball or air hockey. I lead a shallow existence. And also, rail gun, FTW.

The game has a special place in my heart for being a totally new world and experience to me, when it comes to game genres, and I love Duke and all the other characters around him that won't stop swearing.
This isn't anything I'm used to, (the gameplay, not the swearing) so it's pretty cool.

The game ain't perfect. Lack of variety in enemies, long stretches where you don't really do anything, very little space when fighting some bosses, bla bla. Still, I like it. I wish I had preordered it so I could have obtained a Duke bust. Just to say I own a Duke bust.

I suppose my virginity loss to the FPS genre might have found a better game or series, especially one that doesn't use a ten year old engine. But I can't hack games like CoD or BF3. Seems so damn boring, and they all look the same to me, haha. If DNF sucks, then so be it; I am proud to have it as one of my first real FPS experiences.

Also yeah, you pick up poop from the toilet and that gives you a trophy/achievement. You know, before someone decides to teach me something.

The worst thing about the game is that it exist. Seriously, they gave what was to be the internal joke of the internet a punchline. Boo.

I've never played the game but I've heard it's nothing special, and feels incredibly dated. That's usually the case with games that stay in development hell for so long though.

i'd try out half life/ half life 2 or portal for story driven fps's if you're into that. ive never played duke nukem forever, but i found the trailers pretty hilarious.
