Remember back in the 1990s, there was this Sega arcade racing game called Daytona USA, named after the Daytona International Speedway? This was the one major thing that got me into NASCAR racing, since the game uses NASCAR-style stock cars in a fictional setting. The game was fairly realistic, although a little loose, allowing for higher speeds and greater power sliding capabilities than in real-life NASCAR races.

Well I just found this out now, but after the downfall of arcades in America, mainly due to the advent of online multiplayer gaming, in October of 2011, Sega revived Daytona USA as an online downloadable game on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade that brings the original arcade sounds and graphics back, giving it new life for a new generation of game players. As a major fan of the game, I was very excited to find this out, and I hope that they subsequenly do the same for its sequel, Daytona USA 2.
