We all have favorite movies, but what about favorite movie series?

For me there is one true trilogy and that trilogy is Back to the Future.

If we're talking about trilogies then I would have to go with The Lord of the Rings closely followed by the original Star Wars trilogy.

Back to the Future would be in my top five though!

The great movie trilogies are the Dollars trilogy, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones (thankfully they never made a fourth one!) and Lord of the Rings.

The Indiana Jones movies and original Star Wars trilogy will always be close to my heart. I know I am giving a boring answer, but I can't argue with the classics.

I really, really, really, hate Star Wars. :|

Some of my favorites were already named, so I'm going to name another movie series that I enjoyed.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Go ninja! Go ninja! Go! Go! Go!

Does two movies count as a series? If so, Alien and Aliens!

I was going to say that for mine but then I realized that the "Alien series" technically involves the ones where it got all terrible and Ripley was having an alien baby or whatever that whole thing was.

You must be mistaken. There are only two Alien movies.

There are only three Indiana Jones movies.
There are only three Star Wars movies.
There are only two Alien movies.
There was only one TMNT movie.

...I am highly unsure of what to do with Bond, but his track record is better than most I suppose.

Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Back to the Future, Die Hard (one of the few with 4 good movies), Lord of the Rings.

back to the future. 3 great movies.

Die hard is also a fun blow things up movie series.

underworld...less likeable.

Why not SW and LOTR? I cannot sit through ROTJ without screaming

for LOTR - I tried to re-watch it and skipped 100% of the frodo/sam scenes. For a movie WHERE THAT IS THE WHOLE BLOODY POINT I think that makes the entire trilogy a big epic fail.

I refuse to change my opinion. I also didn't read the books. Now THAT's something I want to rant about.

so yeah. BTTF <3

Everyone has hit most of the good ones, so I'll list some of mine that aren't as good, but still solid.

El Mariachi, Desperado, Once Upon A Time In Mexico

The first two Predators.

I like a lot of the Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy (not so great), Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (eh.), Clerks II (it had it's good parts.) stuff.

I did like the animated series they made out of Clerks, but it's not a movie so. :|

I wish I could say the Matrix, but I just can't. :(

Ghostbusters

Gremlins

Terminator (The new ones are now a guilty pleasure.)

There's probably more.

The Bourne Trilogy (that new travesty they're about to bring out does not count), The Matrix and Toy Story.

Oh yeah I forgot about The Bourne Trilogy. Those were good as well even though the camera was a erratic during the fight scenes.

I know a lot of people won't agree with me, or understand my appreciation for them, but the Final Destination movies are undoubtedly my favorite movie series, even when there are movies I like better than them, they seem to be the only one where I could say I appreciate the entire series and don't hate any of them so far. The fourth instalment, entitled The Final Destination is my all time favorite of the franchise, despite the fact it's the least popular of them all.

I actually find the storyline to be very thought provoking as it highlights something I actually think about in my day to day life. I don't see them as purely stuff films, where the only point to watching them is to watch people dying horribly, granted it is interesting the first time you watch each movie to see how everyone is going to die, but the storyline about how everything in our life is already decided and is actually foreshadowed somehow is intriguing to me.

Sharky knows. So does Shiny. And so does anyone who said Alien, Back to the Future, LotR etc. But I love The Nightmare on Elm Street and you can't stop me.

The Godfather. Part III, as Massive Genius said, was "misunderstood."

Original Star Wars trilogy for sure. I don't even have that big of a beef with the prequels, even though they have been so much more.

The Godfather. Part III, as Massive Genius said, was "misunderstood."

I think it was understood perfectly. I understand that it's one of the worst fims ever made. Part Two is the only one that I'd watch again just for De Niro.

The first Godfather sends me to sleep every time I try to watch it.

Star Wars, LOTR, BTTF, Star Trek (F U), Harry Potter, Indiana Jones.

No particular order.

Twilight...

Lulz, just trollin.

Lord of the Rings, though. I've seen FotR over 100 times. Favourite movies of all time, actually.

Going by these responses it is clear that Lord of the Rings is the greatest trilogy of all time.

Well done everyone.

All of this. Also Batman.

Only if we're talking about the Adam West movie from the 60's and the Nolan films. Of course, what else is there since aside from some animated series films in the 90's they never made any other Batman movies.

I was actually only talking about the recent Batman reboot as its own series. I've tried to forget the Batman movies from the 90s.

I loved Tim Burton's Batman films, and Michael Keaton is still the best Batman there's been.

What are you talking about? Neither of those two were ever involved in any project even resembling a Batman movie.

Home Alone 1 is fine only because nostalgia. You should be ashamed of yourself for even mentioning that other thing.
