Some of you may have heard the story of the Western Final Fantasy that never came to fruition. GRIN (a Swedish Studio) was reportedly making a Western FF, contracted by SE to be an action RPG set in a Nordic style. Then in 2009, the studio unfortunately closed and a sh*t brewed from the employees that left claiming SE had not paid close to $20 million USD, that could have helped them stay afloat. SE had some ridiculous request. They asked them to fax the "game code" over to them and the send all relevant music. When asked about the unpaid wages, SE claimed that GRIN had not been sending them their project milestones. When Anderson, studio head, said they we're SE replied that it was to the wrong department and they should have been sending it to the legal department.

The game, code-named "Fortress", which we're all but certain is the Final Fantasy (looks FFXII_related) action game spinoff we'd been told by former employees GRIN Stockholm had been working on from the time principal development on Bionic Commando wound up to the time they were shut down.

Some amazing music has just been outed from the fallen project:

Yeah I remember hearing about this a few years ago.

Honestly it never really intrigued me. Those last couple pieces of concept art are pretty cool though.

I don't get why this is suddenly getting so much attention. My FF news feed is going bananas for this stuff. Regardless, I really like that song!

Anyway, I was working on an article on this for the frontpage, and since you already made a thread on it I linked that article to here.

It looks and sounds amazing, and the concept art shows a beautifully visioned world. It'd be such a shame for Square to never use any of this.
