I am shocked and disgusted. I've loved this game for years but until now in my adulthood I was completely eluded by this despicable racially charged undertones placed in what appears to be a fun harmless video game on the surface. I discovered today however, to my absolute horror, that there's a bigger agenda here folks.

I'm sure you'll agree that the proof is in the pudding:

If you read the ultimania guide for FFVII, they actually explain that Barret has a weird iris problem that causes him to see the color blonde as white. He wasn't being racist, he was merely talking about Cloud's hair.

A misconception. Cloud actually has a collection of heads belonging to all races and faiths. In this instance, the caucasian head is experiencing difficulty and Cloud's colleague, Barret, pledges to provide assistance. The various other heads also undergo a number of life-altering issues and challenges throughout the game. For example, the hispanic head fulfills a lifelong dream of becoming a champion Chocobo jockey, and the Native-American head experiences a lovely day out in Wutai until it faces peer pressure and is encouraged to smoke.
