It'd be great timing to announce BG3. ME3 just came out and, regardless of how it's been received, nobody has been talking about anything else recently. BioWare is on the front page of any gaming site you care to look at, I imagine (even mine and Pike's!) and the momentum gained would be pretty amazing. I've no doubt a lot of longtime fans of BG are going to be immensely wary of a new game, if that's what it is, but the title's cachet, their current popularity, and their reputation as one of the only big-name RPG makers still going would add up to this being a big announcement, probably bigger than "Hey we're rereleasing this with better grafix".

Then again, this is BioWare we're talking about. I wouldn't be surprised if this game is Dark Alliance 3, you play as Jon Irenicus, and spend most of the game acquiring trinkets to give to Adrianna, Drizzt, Alyth, and Special Cameo Guest Star Tali in order to get them to romance you. All at once. Along with Saerileth.

I don't think it will be BG3. I'm with a lot of people in thinking that they're developing an updated version of BG1/2 for iOS.

Though a BG3 would be incredible.

I wonder if they're collaborating with Obsidian. And how they wrestled away the rights from Interplay. Didn't Bethesda just get done ending a huge ordeal over Fallout? And now E.A. is going to go after them? Their final nails are probably finally being put into their coffin if they resist this lol But it seems only appropriate that the old Black Isle guys would have a part in this as well

Either way, I can not complain. Though there are numerous patches available to bring BG games a little farther along the gaming chain, a bit of official tweaking probably couldn't hurt
