I have come to collect data regarding human opinions on robots. Specifically, I would like some examples of what you consider to be famous robots in history. Preferably coming in pairs, like R2D2 and C3PO.

Failure to comply will result in... absolutely nothing happening. Your cooperation, however, is appreciated by the AI collective.

This reminds me of a picture that George Takei posted to FB recently:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/306953_261288963916047_113312922046986_777982_1277076055_n.jpg

Lots of robots to choose from (though I was never able to find Crow in there, which would be an outrageous oversight!).

EDIT: And haha, so of course right after I post that, I immediately notice him.

EDIT2: apparently that's not the version Takei posted, and it has Wall-E elsewhere (or not even there?). Here is that version (https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/380198_459233830772742_205344452828349_100707371_529521065_n.jpg), which, in my defense, does not have Crow (or at least not in the same spot)!

I don't see how Crow and Tom Servo can't be the winner. In fact, this thread has already been killed. We can't revive dead threads!

Wall-E and EVE, for some challenge to Crow and Tom Servo. Not like they'll provide any. :shobon:

did any of you find wall-e in that pic? I swore I've found him before, and he was straight up from that robot that was introduced in the space station scene (near the bottom middle)

Do AIs count? If so, Wheatley and GLaDOS.

Good one.

Also, finding pairs of AIs is difficult. Can we pick human/AI pairs? That widens the playing field considerably.

also:

Bender and Flexo
Durandal and Cortana (sure they're not from the same series, but same developer at least)
I thought of one other robot or AI as well but I forgot to post it and now it's gone :(

edit: it was Marvin, of course. How did I forget? I'm even re-reading those books right now.

Excellent suggestions thus far, organic intelligences of EoFF. To answer your question, Pike, if any of you come up with a particularly witty duo of which only one half is robotic, you are free to submit that as well.

The very best answers shall be used for Ciddies purposes which many of you have likely already deduced. What constitutes a best answer is determined partially by very logical mathematical algorithms and partially by popular vote here.

How about most likely, to be Mike, Joel, Servo, and Crow? Double the MST3K fun! MST6K!

Given that I have no clue who Crow and Tom Servo are, I think you're better off using more famous duos that everyone will enjoy regardless of their country of residence.

My favourite of those already mentioned is easily Wheatley and GLaDOS, who have the personality and popularity to make for a high quality Ciddies duo. Wall-E and Eve are another great idea.

Optimus & Megatron is an easy choice, but Starscream and any other transformer would possibly be more fun.

You could opt for a less robotic duo, with the likes of Neo and Agent Smith.

For great robot/human duos, though, I would say that Ripley/Bishop and Picard/Data have to be right up there.

My favourites so far are the Portal 2 pairing and the Aliens pairing.

EDIT: Also, Joker/EDI is worth considering, too - good personality, chemistry and notably they are actually relevant to the past six months!

Any true nerd over the age of 20 or so that has access to the internet knows who Crow and Tom Servo are. You are an embarrassment to these here forums. Now go watch some MST3k.

I'm not sure if they were broadcast in New Zealand, but I certainly don't remember them and I watched probably too much TV! :p A quick ask around work and only one person recognised it, and he said he doesn't think it was broadcast here and he had to download it. It's pretty common for Americans to assume that everyone knows about the shows they watched as kids, but it's not always the case. From what he said, it sounds pretty amusing, though.
