I swear it's always a million degrees in my bedroom. What else can one do to beat the heat, aside from point a fan at their face at full blast? ...anything?

If you have windows with shades or blinders, make sure they stay shut to keep the light out during the day. That usually helps keep the room a little bit cooler.

Used to have a room in the barracks, AC would only work for 15 minutes before it shut itself off for 7 or 8 hours. Also was rigged to a motion sensor and the lights, so if the lights were off and no one was moving it would turn off after like 20 minutes when it DID want to work. Solution: put your underwear, PJ pants or a t-shirt in the freezer 4 hours before bed. Then get shmammered. Once you are drunk enough to be asleep in a relatively short amount of time, put on said frozen sleepwear, and pray to god you get to sleep before they warm up.

...or like bunny said, ice packs. In retrospect that's a lot smarter than our old plan. I guess thats what we get for formulating it while drinking.

I used to have a similar problem that Ghandi had, except I lived in Hawaii where it's humid as all hell. Get 2 hand towels and get them nice and damp, stick one in the freezer and put the other one on the top of your head. Do you look silly? Yes. Do you stay nice and cool? Yes.

In my apartment I was a window mounted AC unit that does the job perfectly. I need it too since I live on the third floor.

Wetting your ears with a little cold water sometimes work. You could simply have a fan blasting your nethers with wind.

-I'm not sure which, but I have heard that either the northern or southern most room of a house is the warmest, and the other is the coolest.

-Don't have the sun blasting through your window.

-If you have some type of air conditioning running, don't open your window. Instead, open the interior door from your room.

-Open up the attic a bit.

-Desktop computers and big TV's give off a lot of heat, and it builds in an insulated room. Thsi is important because the heat seems negligible, but it will top off an already warm room more then you'd think.

I find running my wrists under cold tap water for about a minute helps me.

My workplace every year is like an oven all summer and a freezer all winter. In the winter the trick is layers upon layers, normally I'll throw a long sleeve ts under a shirt under a large work ts and if needs be a hoody over the top if I have to. Our heating/AC at work is craptacular. Seriously in 5 years it's never worked.

In summer our approach is less clothing and plenty of water. I find drinking ice cold water on a boiling hot day isn't that great because the initial reaction of "hmm cold!" is offset by the fact that the coldness can cause your stomach to cramp (causing you to have the shits)

Keep a fan in the window at night, and close everything up when the sun is up. Works well for me--I only ran my a/c twice last summer. I'd go outside to go grocery shopping and be like "OMG it's summer out here aahhhhhh!"
