Even though its very inconsistent with its humor, South Park always holds a dear spot in my heart cause I grew up on that cartoon. LOST however is probably my favorite show. I really love Person of Interest and Desperate Housewives was ok.

For reals though... I'm a big fan of South Park just because it skewers pretty much everyone with equal jest. My Little Pony is a new obsession, outside of which I've recently worked through the entirety of The (american) Office and Supernatural. There are several I loved which I file under "ONE SEASON ONLY" because they just tanked horribly afterwards. Heroes and Jericho both quickly come to mind.

I would have to say the Swedish TV show "Rederiet".
It ended ten years ago and it's still a well-known, praised super-classic, it was the number 1 show for TEN YEARS and it was even shown in Africa.
I think the secret to its huge success is that the characters felt so incredibly present and natural, and the acting is extremely good.
Take a look at these two scenes and you will understand what I mean - I swear, you will find it hard to believe that they are even acting, it looks way more like something filmed from real life with a hidden camera or something:

My dad is all excited because he got the complete first season of "Maverick" in the mail the other day. That's his all-time favorite show. He used to show it to me when I was a kid. It's been a long time, but it's still great to watch.

Aside from the extremely well-written stories, the great characters, and even greater acting, there is a nearly unprecedented level of realism and striking social and political commentary. It is simply an amazing show.

While I can't really argue against The Wire, I would have to second The Simpsons because it was able to attain a level of comic perfection that will probably never be matched. The sheer number of classic characters, episodes, catchphrases, spoofs and heck other shows it helped inspire make it the pinnacle for me.

I want to say Firefly, but there are so few episodes. Grey's Anatomy is way up there, despite its lows. Game of Thrones has yet to really disappoint me. The Venture Bros and Adventure Time also hold strong throughout their seasons.

A lot of my personal favorite shows are ones that were really really great, and then turned crappy eventually.

I think the first two seasons of Alias are so ridiculously good. The first season of Lost is flawless. In terms of just solid consistency, I'd say I Love Lucy and The West Wing. It took both shows a good while to go bad.


Grey's Anatomy is way up there, despite its lows.

But the lows are really fucking low. Grey's Anatomy's lows are worse than most shows I've ever seen. That musical episode was a crime against television.
