It looks so pretty I love the look of Cait Sith with it's cute wee cape. I'm still trying to level my Weaver but failing as I get bored so easily. The game has definetely changed though more social and a lot easier to find a party now so yay. So excited not long before it all changes eeeeee!

Looks awesome, can't wait. :) I did cave and start playing to get Legacy. Not sure what server you guys are on BoB, but I ended up jumping to Aegis with all my FFXI buddies, if you're on there we've got a nice shell called Phoenix Down. :)

Well i finally hit 50 on Pugilist on the Durandal server. I plan on getting to lv50 on my Ridill and Sargatanas characters too before 2.0 starts. Probably won't be too hard, considering how fast it is to level now.

If the alpha test starts in late September, like that yoshi guy says they're trying for, there is also enough time for me to get legacy mode. I started playing again a bit over a week ago.

Wait, you're on Sargatanas too, now? Did I know about that before? What's your name? =o Add Loony Bob and Smitten Kitten!

I made one becuase you two are there. I haven't leveled it yet, even though I've had it for ages. Just wanted to hold off a name. It's also deactivated until i've leveled my ridill character to 50.

So, wait, is this like a completely different game? I'm confused.

Basically, current world gets smurfed up, and those who are playing now are sort of living near the end of days (except we don't really know it). I guess it will be sort of like FF6's WoB/WoR thing, except that the new world won't be as messed up as WoR is. It won't be dying, I guess, just very different.

It is "kind of" the same game, but at the same time it will be very different. You'll be in the same world, with the same races, most of the same places, but the graphics engine, story, and gameplay will be different. The "current" FF14 world will become sort of the lore and backstory of the new world.

Personally, I'm imagining that something strange will happen to our current characters, story wise. For example that the screen fades to white after some epic battle or something, and that we wake up in FF14v2 a few years later (story-wise), which would explain all the changes to the world.

That's... pretty awesome, admittedly. It almost makes me wish I was playing FFXIV right now, but I don't have a computer that could possibly play it, and no job to pay for the monthly fee. I'll watch all the story scenes online for sure, though, so that I can get the references if I play FFXIV 2.0 on the PS3.

I'm debating between Lalafell and Male Miqo'te... if I ever get this game, that is.

I doubt I would play as Hyur, but ultimately it depends on the available hairstyles. :p

Omfg that looks gorgeous! My f**king video card fails after like 5 seconds of playing any high-end PC game. I don't have the cash to get a new one or replace it. *sigh* I guess I just have to wait for the PS3 version. Totally pumped to get back into it!
@LB On Sargatanas, is 'Fat Chocobos' still the group?

Loony BoB
06-16-2012, 01:36 PM
Aye, Fat Chocobos is still in existence. We've played with a number of people lately and I'm thinking of adding them all to either my Aiyon shell or Fat Chocobos as a few of them have been pretty social and great to play with. It remains to be seen whether any of them would care to join a linkshell, though. :p

Hey BoB, is it worth jumping into this game now before 2.0 launches?

Loony BoB
06-27-2012, 12:43 PM
You're asking someone who really, really likes the game, so I'm gonna say yes. I think it's easily worth the money considering it's around half the cost of FFXI. Perhaps importantly if you are considering being a long term player (which is normal for an MMO, I guess?) you will want to sign up before 30th June, as if you sign up after that date you will miss the chance to become a Legacy member. If you sign up after an upcoming patch, you'll also miss the chance to get the Goobbue mount.

So far most people I know that have been returning to FFXIV have enjoyed it, but some are still not going to like it. In the end, at a cost of £6.89 (or the American equivalent) for one month just to try it out and see if it's worth it for you, I'd say you're better off joining now to hopefully get Legacy and save yourself some money over the long term than waiting until 2.0.

Mirage
06-27-2012, 02:29 PM
What, no. It isn't half the cost of FF11. It's around 80% the cost of FF11, and +3 dollars for each new character.

As far as I'm concerned, only come back if you're ready to deal with a bulltit UI and market system, and want to see the story before the world ends! or something like that.

Oh, I thought it was something like £6.89 and £11.99, I probably got my currencies confused somewhere. Still, not a bad price!

Dignified Pauper

19.99 is a good price. Woot!

19.99 is a good price, but only if you never ever have to pay a subscription fee.

Mirage

I'm not even sure what you're talking about. What would I be bitter for? I'm paying 13 bucks, which is a reasonable price. 20 is not.

Loony BoB

Something tells me DP is referring to the initial cost for buying the game, not the subscription cost.

DP, if that's the case, just remember that even if you have a free month's trial you will still need to start paying subscription costs before 30th June if you want to become a Legacy member.

Dignified Pauper
06-28-2012, 12:07 PM
Yeah, BoB is right, and I activated my subscription late last night.

It still gives me the 30 days and says I won't start paying until July 27, but I activated it last night, so I'm good. I also picked the 90 day option.

Is there any news of the PS3 release?

Loony BoB
07-03-2012, 04:52 PM
I understand it to be something like this...

FFXIV 1.0 ends at the same time FFXIV 2.0 Beta begins.
FFXIV 1.0 characters are imported over to FFXIV 2.0.
FFXIV 2.0 Beta ends, FFXIV 2.0 begins, PS3 Beta begins.
PS3 Beta ends, FFXIV 2.0 goes live on PS3.

Should be in the early (so, first half of the year, I guess) 2013 from what I'm hearing around the internet.

Is there any news of the PS3 release?

A brand new interface is being built:

Square Enix isn't just porting over the PC version of Final Fantasy XIV to the PS3. The interface is being totally redone for PS3 players, Famitsu reveals this week.

The PS3 version uses an all new interface called "Cross Hot Bar" (in Japanese, "クロスホットバー" -- if you have a better Romanization suggestion, do suggest it). We don't have specifics just yet.

Famitsu seems to have a full staff Q&A for FFXIV this week, so we may get additional details later.

Wonder if that interface will be available for PC users playing with gamepads. I probably wouldn't play with a gamepad, but maybe others would.

Given the PC UI is supposed to be able to be customised, I'd imagine it'll be doable by users if not as an option.
