Reminded/inspired by Pike's thread, I noticed this article the other day:
Max Payne 3 Makes Cheaters Fight Each Other - IGN (http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/06/13/max-payne-3-makes-cheaters-fight-each-other)
Love the idea. Do you? Now the only problem I think is they leave the gamers themselves to do the reporting. I reckon with a bit of effort Rockstar could register cheaters by recording movement and player characteristics somehow. Either way, it's definitely a creative and noble solution.
It also reminded me of how the creators of Dark Souls handled players who 'somehow' obtained a copy of the game early: From Software terrorizing people who are playing Dark Souls early | EGMNOW (http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/from-software-terrorizing-people-who-are-playing-dark-souls-early/)
Any more examples of creative "crowd control" in gaming?
