Somebody please tell me there's a way to recover it. Or even better, it still exists somewhere in its entirety.
Was looking for it a whle ago myself. Couldn't find anything :( Here's hoping someone here may be able to revive it!

I knew of that, but I was hoping somebody had retained the images.

Sorry they are all gone, as are all the original sites, you would have to find someone who was around back then and archived it.

Maybe Necro still has them somewhere.

Sadly, the best archive I could find.

Thanks, guys. I also have fond memories of the parody, so I looked pretty extensively for it!
EDIT: Strange...now not as many pics are loading.
It was one of the greatest inspirations in my life.

I remember doing a count of the amount of times Ceodore and Cecil said "What?" in The After Years. I lost it, sadly.
I tried to read this, but the meaning is lost without the pictures.

Yeah, occasionally I try to find a better archive. This one looked good at first, but then most of the pics started to mess up again. I really wish this project would come back in full force.

Why was it called "The Power of Cheese" anyway? Because the translation was cheesy?

That is part of it, I believe. However, the title also alludes to the slogan of these commercials that were running at the time.

I wish I was around for that. I totally would have participated.
I remember yours being rather entertaining, Manus.

Thanks. You'll get your Paypal notification over the coming days.
EDIT: Actually, Heath's was probably funnier
I'll have to read 'em both again then. We should do another LP

I actually managed to save the entire play through and I have it on an external hard drive. I'll be looking for a place to put it up - for now, if anyone wishes to have a copy of their own, shoot me a PM.
It includes the photos, too. I got it while it was still up.

I'll host it on Bastardly if so desired.

That is great news! I thought this was lost forever. Thanks for saving the day, Jachra.

It should have been clear from the outset that Cecil was Squall's prototype. ...What? Nevermind...

You're welcome :D
I couldn't let it die, and I'm glad I snagged it when I could.
Oo, a reputation point, handy.

Hey guys, I'm flattered at the effort in reviving this. Thanks.
I actually still have everything backed up on my home computer as well (including the majority of the April-fools joke episode in Japanese) but have refrained from re-upping it for various reasons. Here is a PM I sent to Jiro about it:
Ah, yes. I actually considered putting this back up on my current webspace a few times but have not done so due to the weird five-year phenomenon (in this case eight-year phenomenon):
Coding Horror: What did you write five years ago? (http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/2006/10/what-did-you-write-five-years-ago.html)
What I would really like to do, and have wanted to do for a while, is put this back up proper in a permanent location with 1:1 pixel screens (as opposed to the blurry, stretched godawful originals I used) and highly scrutinized and edited text (hilarious that most of the gags in the thing are about how terrible the spelling/grammar is in the translation, but I made tons of embarrassing mistakes myself). The problem is that I am now a slave to work and adult life and realistically will never have the time to do such things. I wonder if anyone would be up to the challenge?

I don't think I could write jokes that match your style and would be funny enough to include.
In fact, I can think of only one person who could.

Yay it's back! This was the last thing on my EoFF Bucket List too.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the sole source, though now it's spread out at least!
I would find it difficult to improve on, so I'll pass, though I'd be happy to review any new versions.

Oh, that is interesting. I would definitely like to host it on Eyes on Final Fantasy someday with the proper vision that you have for it in terms of style and code.
