I've been reading Jim C. Hines' "Princess Series."
Danielle Whiteshore nee de Glas is the fabled "Cinderella,"
Talia Malak-el-Dahshat of Arathea is the "Sleeping Beauty,"
and...
Ermillina Curtana of Allesandria is the beautiful "Snow White."
Red Riding Hood and The Little Mermaid make respective appearances in the series as well, though the characterization is far from the lulling fairytales of Disney fame (although Disney never made an actual movie for RRD).
I'm in the middle of the second book (I actual only checked it out from the library, which itself borrowed it from another library, so I only had it a limited time... I may have to buy it). There are neat pokes at the mythology, interesting twists on characterization (particularly for Talia), and a sweet arsenal of artifacts imo.
I like the books so far and hope for a movie as I do with everything that has yet to be ruined by film.
My casting ideas are Kristen Bell for Danielle, Zoe Saldana for Talia, and Dakota Fanning for Snow.
