Welcome to the Blackmage_Nuke award for person who is most like Blackmage_Nuke. This award has become dusty and old as it sits on his shelf year in, year out. That’s not to say Nukie doesn’t take care of the trophy, oh no. He polishes it with his tears as he weeps, wondering at what point he will finally be given the rating he deserves. What I mean is that the concept, the premise of this award is old and worn, and nobody takes it seriously any more. Blackmage_Nuke is a top member, that is for sure, but instead of giving him an award every six months, how about we rate him as he deserves?

There are a lot of ways to be intimidating, but it's kind of hard to be intimidating on the internet. After all, it's a favourite technique of mine to imagine that you are all fat, balding old men who live in basements and survive off cheetos and soda. Snarkiest member, huh? With eight nominees, you’d think this place was a cesspit full of jackasses who were always smurfing rude to each other. It’s like we’re all one big collection of YouTube comments. Not something to be proud of, but I suppose the members we have nominated for this award probably pride themselves on the fact that people think they’re assholes. So let’s take a look at our nominees, shall we? Let’s see if we can discover some kind of evidence as to why they’re smurfing obsessed with pissing people off.

First up is Psychotic. Psychotic is not snarky. Maybe in the past he was. But the man has aged and in his old age he has become way too mellow. Sure, he still knows how to be a complete dick, but his snarky streak has definitely subsided.

krissy isn’t snarky. How do you people even come up with this tit? krissy is more funny than he is snarky, easily, so I don’t even understand how you dicks didn’t nominate him for that. I swear to god, you must be stunted. Did your parents beat you and blame their alcoholism on you or something?

Raistlin is an arrogant know-it-all. Snarky is probably a word I would use to define him, but it only inflates his ego even more. Nobody wants that to happen because he might actually make a decent, heartless, lawyer man and if he can’t fit his head in the goddamn doorway then how’s he gonna get into the courtroom?

Quin. Are you smurfing kidding me? You cannot nominate Quin for being snarky. The only time his words have any bite is when you call him Harle and even then his only real talent is making fun of Iceglow. Everyone can do that though, it’s hardly a unique trait. Sometimes I wonder if you imbeciles are just pretending to have brains.

Mirage can be snarky but I’m still completely confused as to how he got nominated. He posts very infrequently and is most active in chat. Although, perhaps some chatters became so dissatisfied with his behaviour that they made the long trek here to nominate him as some kind of insult. I suppose it helps that probably 90% of his posts are being snarky anyway. Goddammit Mirage.

I have a feeling that Sylvie’s pretty tame around us. Can sense that there’s a fire just waiting to be unleashed. So to be nominated for snarkiest member already is just kind of terrifying as a concept. I do not want to be on the receiving end of a barrage from Sylvie. It would probably be intriguing and disturbing as well as highly offensive and direct.

Bunny is often accused of being a snarky smartass. Probably too much, really. For all his snarky behaviour, he’s way too nice a guy. Plus, with a name like Bunny, it’s hard to take him seriously. I mean can you imagine an angry rabbit? It just becomes cute. Bunny’s a cute dude too. He didn’t visit me though. smurf you man, that really hurts :(

We have a single female entrant on this list which is strange considering the interactions I’ve had with females in the past. Women are, in my experience, masters at being snarky when they want to be. Not that they always are, don’t be accusing me of sexism here you smurfers. But Shlup has that natural ability and if you smurf with her she will smurf you right back. In the face. With her words. Sharp words. Like a pointy rock.

We have a couple snarky bastards in the list so I guess you aren’t as smurfing stupid as you all look, but christ on a bike you need to get your acts together. Let’s have a better lot of nominees next time. Or maybe just a better lot of nominators and voters. I feel like the only sane one in here sometimes.

Bubba’s Detective Agency had an anonymous tip that these nominees for Nicest Member speech at not quite all they seem. Bubba sent his apprentice out to take some notes on two of the nominees, while he went after the third. These are their stories.



The sun was shining as Rantz merrily walked home from work. People would smile and wave as they walked by him. Everyone loves Rantz. He is so nice.
Susan, a good friend of Rantz, approaches him pushing a pram.
"Hi Rantz!"
"Hi Susan! You look fantastic and so does Charlie!"
"Aww... Bless you. You're so nice, Rantz!"

Susan's phone begins to ring.

"Ooh, it's the gas man. .I need to take this. Can you watch Charlie for a second?"
"Sure thing!"

Susan turns away to take the call. Rantz smiles down at the baby who is happily playing with his rattle. "Aren't you a little cutie pie?!"

A voice suddenly sounds in Rantz's head...

"Take the rattle."
"What? Why?"
"Because you want it... don't you?"
"No... erm, well... yes. Yes I do."

Rantz steals the rattle and pockets it.

"Now flick his ear."

Rantz obeys. Charlie begins to cry. Susan turns back round.

"Sorry Susan, it looks like Charlie's a bit grumpy!"
"Oh, don't worry. What's the matter Charlie? Are you hungry? Oh, you've dropped your rattle as well, never mind."
"I should be heading on home. It was lovely to see you Susan."

Rantz continued his journey home. More people smiled and waved at him. Everyone loves Rantz. He is so nice.

As you can see from Bubba’s recount, Rantz is not all he seems. How did Bubba know about the voices in Rantz’s head? That’s one secret he’ll never tell.



o_O is a hell of a guy. He’s always happy to help a brother out. Problem is, there’s just a little part of him with a wild side. Wild? No, that’s not right. More like… sinister. Sinister and glittery. Standing behind him, in the darkened silhouette, is none other than Fujiko, the puppet master. She is the one pulling the strings, controlling o_O using what tricks she keeps concealed in her glitter bag. Nice deeds may be done by o_O, but he is always quickest to aid that beautiful temptress. When she calls for help, he delivers it; her morals are far less sound than his, and often she uses this kind hearted soul to perform devilish deeds in disguise. Do not be fooled by her ways, and don’t alert o_O! For he is under her spell, and without the proper preparation, he will not believe you; he will kill you.
Terrifying to think that such a genuinely nice person is being corrupted from the outside. We can only hope he has enough strength to resist the sway of that glitter fiend :(

However, only a few have caught the attention of many to get into LIMIT BREAKS and reached the pinnacle of greatness which is a spot on the list of nominees for Best Post. These five posts are so great that I will share with you the comments that each post received through the reputation received and give my own opinion as to show everyone just how awesome each of these posts are. Without further ado, let's bring out the posts!

I don't have any bad lines but I've got a truly genius one that is foolproof as long as you can duplicate the charisma of its originator (not bloody likely!) On XBL the other day Steve told us a pickup line he claims to have successfully used to get Molly Ringwald in bed with him. Let me see if I can remember it correctly. Oh, it's important to remember that this isn't a pickup line so much as a pickup shout at the top of your lungs, remember that if you try it for yourself.

Speaking of palate I can't say I agree with your taste in sandwiches but I suppose after analysing your poo I can tell you've got a healthy diet so even if you don't put a load of mayo on your marmite sandwiches we can still make something work. It does make your poo a bit lacking though I am used to richer tastes. Sonic Lounge Pants was also an amazing game for the 32X attachment. In a departure from usual running platform based gameplay, Sonic Lounge Pants was about what Sonic does on his time off. The goal of the game was to see how fast you can make Sonic lounge around. This is actually a lot harder than it sounds because all Sonic wants to do is run at things. Robotnick appears at the end of each level to tempt Sonic into going on an adventure, but as long as you upgraded his pants to Super Lounge Sonic (if you managed to find the 7 beer bottles in the Watch Reruns of Family Matters Special Stages), you'd easily pass those challenges.

The FFVI manual is tattered and worn. Small hands held and turned those pages before dark brown eyes filled with wonder at what secrets could be discovered within. Eyes which looked on the works they contained with the wonder only a child could muster, following the loose flowing brush strokes that simultaneously defined the characters without limiting them. The colours and shades mingling and running together in ways which seemed to have no borders at all, letting them and the world they inhabited flow from the page to fill an imagination with this amazing and complete world filled with characters, places and beasts every bit as wondrous and magical as what those pages tried to convey in their limited fashion.

Best Thread hasn't always had its position in the Ciddies guaranteed. There were some who thought it was pointless and should be removed...forever. Felt like it was unnecessarily patting someone on the back for something they didn't really do. But I'm here to tell you why Best Thread is an important Ciddie. Let's take a walk, shall we?

The Best Thread Ciddie is not awarded to the thread creator. Their concept might be great, but often it is not the individual's creation but a team effort. However, the Ciddie is also not awarded to the posters within the thread. Taking a thread from humble beginnings to greatness typically involves the participation of numerous people. Whether they are all individually humorous, or intelligent, or inspiring, or whether it is simply that a certain synergy is reached via these sometimes plain posts, the threads here, nominated for the position of Best Thread are a gift to us all, and the Ciddie is awarded to the thread as a repayment for the joy it has given all of us.

This Ciddie allows us a time of reflection, to appreciate those threads which have stuck in our minds for months, long and deep enough to be remembered when the Ciddies roll into town. It is also a milestone, something to strive for: each and every time we make a thread, we should be hoping to bring joy and entertainment. Striving for greatness is one thing, but serendipity has a habit of raising its beautiful head at the most random of times and even the most innocent of threads can rise to stardom. Another reason that we should take a leaf out of The Man's booklet and give our opinions wherever we stumble. Don't be afraid, and don't be modest. Go on and spread that opinion of yours, forcefully if you have to. You never know what it could spark.

Hey guys, Pike here. Did you know that I invented this category? I know, fancy, huh? I feel all e-famous and such.

Unlike the Best Developer/Editor/Tech Admin award, this category is open to anyone who consistently makes newsworthy threads that can then be promoted to the front site. It's also open to people who perhaps used to be official EoFF Editors but aren't anymore. I thought it would be important to recognize the members who want to make the front page a better and more exciting place for the denizens of the internet. Besides, who else wants to do it? I mean, really, does anyone even look at the front page besides Loony BoB?

What really sets a newswriter apart, aside from their ability to pounce on news as it's released, is their enthusiasm and ability to make everything exciting. I don't know if you've looked at the front page lately, but here's the gist of what's going on:

The Best Blogger is an underrated award because the blogging feature of this website is sorely underused. Well, that's not true. Hypoallergenic Cactuar makes a blog every day, twice a day if he really needs that release, but the quality there leaves much to be desired. Our other regular bloggers include the likes of the nominees, however, "regular" is not so much the term for them. While our blogs were mentioned in that recent collection of Top FF Sites that Freya found, it is certainly not a feature we would hope to be defined by.

Whether it be book reviews, political nonsense, where Jesus has been located today, musical mayhem or what have you, our blog content is very varied. So while it might be underused, except by HC, and full of random as fuck shit that only a handful of people really care about, that really is just a reflection on the rest of us. krissy: The person you want to go to if you want awful FF pickup lines, krissy is a strong candidate for this award. At least if you can tolerate the whole Canadian thing.

A revolution needs to happen down there friends, if we are to salvage what was once great and restore it to former glory. We need to head out in force and read, read read, then write, write, write and share all our works without fear of reprisal, ridicule or rejection!

Even its neighbouring forum, Relm’s Studio, has undergone renovations in the past, but it too suffers from the same dedicated artists supplying us with artwork that we do not see, do not feel. Certainly, though, it sees greater traffic; and why shouldn’t it? Art is easier to glance at, a smaller investment for greater aesthetic award. Art has depth, too, but it is not as dense as the written word, and so many view our literary haven as tl;dr and avoid it like the plague. That saddens me, but I am not without fault. Though poetry is the most common form of post within ye olde Writer’s Corner, that is no fault of the contributors. Certainly, each writer has his or her own preferences, and I lack the skills and appreciation of poetry. However, my contributions in the form of prose have also been sorely lacking; something I hope to rectify in the near future. Perhaps, even, I might secure myself a nomination for the next Ciddies, like the ones of yore.

They say the pen is mightier than the sword, yet we seem to lack the strength required to burst free of these chains of mere subsistence. These writers are all talented in their own way, with each excelling in a completely different form of writing. Will we be able to thrive under their guidance, or will more warriors need to take up their implements and create a brand new world for us all?

I remember a time when this speech was written by Psychotic, DK and Rantz. It was an awesome speech where three heavily underqualified men sat down and discussed artwork by the nominees with some kind of false air of dignity. Imagine, if you will, three hooligans sat around a table in a swanky gentlemen's club. They just seemed out of place, but wasn't it just the best concept ever. I yearn for those times, my friends, I yearn for them.

Instead, now, you have me, a man with even less artistic talent or knowledge then the three buffoons and very little ideas on how to approach this venture. If I were more enthused, I might attempt to round up some buffoons of my own and recreate the speeches from yore. Sadly, I have not the time, effort or buffoons necessary. Perhaps next Ciddies I will attempt this. I have considered critiquing the work myself, but feel that I am so uneducated on the nature of art that it would be an insult to these fine artists. I was given strange looks the other day for talking about why I don't understand modern art. Yes, I'm that idiot who goes to art galleries and says "I don't get it."

Instead, I have opted for something a little bit simpler. The Ciddies is a time of excitement, of mayhem. Everything is going fast, high energy. Sometimes you just need to take a break, relax and enjoy yourself.
