Atari was incorporated in 1972 and has been around for forty years. Let's talk about Atari games you love; whether they were made by Atari or simply showed up on an Atari system (2600 anyone?)

Let's talk about Yar's Revenge

And Centipede

And Crystal Castles

motherfucking Marble Madness

and Tempest

Some serious classics here, you guys. What Atari games do you like?

My dad no longer has a working Atari anymore, but once while rooting around in the basement, I found a bunch of the old 2600 games in a brown paper bag. Can't remember everything I saw in there, but the two standouts were The Empire Strikes Back and E.T. Can you believe it, we have a copy of E.T. in the house! That's why I wish we had a working 2600, so I could play and experience the awfulness of that game for myself.

Oh man. Yars' Revenge was so confusing at first. THE BLOCKS WOULDN'T GO AWAY.

Dude. You totally forgot Kool-Aid Man the game! That is my favorite. He even busts through a brick wall to start things off. Kool-Aid Man (video game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kool-Aid_Man_%28video_game%29)

I have an atari I bought off a good friend about 14ish years ago now. Still works and I still bust it out occasionally and play the games. Did you know that an atari joy stick also works as a one button Sega Genesis controller?

Plaything through any Sonic game with that controller is stupid fun!

Also, we laughed so damn hard when we first saw the half-assed opening screen to Kool-Aid Man!

Frogger

Adventure

Pitfall

Pac-Man

Yeah, I liked the Atari, mostly because it was the first gaming console I ever got to play on in my Uncle's house. Aw, fond memories...

Tempest, man. The amount of time I spent with Tempest as a kid. Such a great game!

This is the best thing I have ever heard.

Didn't Atari commit suicide at 18?

Atari was when games were games. All the games were extremely simplistic but very fun to play and the goal of the game was simply to get a high score.
