Bot thread aside, that is actually a very difficult question.

Are we talking sitcoms? Panel Shows? Individual comedian shows? What type of comedy show?

Panel Show it'd have to be Mock the week or QI
Sitcom would be Big Bang Theory
Individual Comedian show would be Russell Howards Good News.

Not difficult at all. It's The Simpsons.

Parks and Recreation!! YEAH!

It's so smart, hilarious, and has such a great cast of characters. Even the little side characters are tremendous. I think it's as funny as The Office was in it's prime, but with even more heart.

And there's puppies. And waffles. Best show everrr!

South Park and the Simpsons (original). I also have to agree with Iceglow about QI, which is hilarious.

Newsradio is fantastic, even if some of the episodes got a bit hokey in the later seasons. Phil Hartman was perhaps the best thing to ever happen to television.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is something I rarely watch, but it's always like a rare dessert when I catch it on. Bonus desserts if I just happen to be high when I notice that it's on.

I also really loved The Office, Home Movies, Futurama, Frasier, Seinfeld...

But I will say that I fucking detest The Big Bang Theory. Worst fucking thing ever.

A show that is sold as a comedy but is truly becoming something much more: Louie on FX.

It is quite possibly the best show on TV right now, bar none. I suggest you check it out. Written, Directed, Edited and Starring the one and only Louie CK.

Other then that:

Classic Simpsons
Monty Python
Arrested Development
Community
The Boondocks

Take care all.

Tigmafuzz
08-12-2012, 08:19 AM
If you get past the whole show being one fast, random train of thought nowadays it actually isn't any worse than it was a few years ago. It's just slightly differently paced and the topics are a bit stranger than you would expect, even from Futurama. Groening's just getting old.

The Man
08-12-2012, 04:31 PM
The new episodes aren't as good as the old ones but they haven't gotten as much worse as Family Guy has. That show has been pretty much terrible ever since they brought it back, while Futurama is still rather good.

The simple fact that not every post in this thread is re-affirming Whose Line is it Anyway is a fucking crime.

And while were at it, The Drew Carry Show = Greatest Sitcom.

My parents can't stand Ricky Gervais and that alone is one of the reasons I like him as a comic. Admittedly though if he were a comedian 24/7, I'd have to shoot him. I like his performances in the Invention of Lying and Ghost Town.

Anyway, yeah, Ricky Gervais Show, Life's Too Short, Family Guy and other stuff by Seth MacFarlane, Robot Chicken, South Park, Simpsons and other stuff with David X. Cohen
