So! Four Years after the release of MGS4, Hideo Kojima has finally released a trophy patch for the game!

Why MGS4 trophies took so long | Bitbag (http://www.thebitbag.com/2012/07/16/why-mgs4-trophies-took-so-lon/)

Seems like even after playing it through 3 times I've got an excuse to go back to it!

An excuse to play MGS4 again? SWEET

I'm more happy about the full install patch mentioned in the news post. The loading in this game was terrible.

uuuuugh why did they have to go and put trophies in? Now I will be compelled to do the shit they want instead of enjoying the game on my own terms. Dammit.

krissy I recall Uncharted having trophies patched in and I'm pretty sure I was "back paid" - for wont of a better term - all the trophies I would have earned until that point.

Speaking as someone who has played through Uncharted several times, but never with the trophy patch installed, you don't get trophies just for having a save game where you accomplished the in game challenges which earn them, and that was with a game that had challenges built in before trophies came about because they anticipated trophies happening down the road. Odds are you'll need to restart MGS4 to get anything.

Ah, well I must have been mistaken! Too bad.

I was planning to go back to MGS4 anywho, so I don't really mind. At least it's a game where they can get creative with them and motivate certain moves or playstyles rather than the unimaginative 'make 10 headshots' like trophies. So who knows, it might give me giggles.

If the trophies are anything like the ones in HD Collection this will be a lot of fun

Gonna be honest. I hate trophies. They are addictive, they make you rush through a game to try and get the more trophies instead of just exploring and enjoying, and they make it a sort of addiction to buy new games.

What, was it confirmed that we will be able to do a complete install? That's all I ever wanted when it came to MGS4 updates. It's really the only reason I haven't played the game more than once.

Can't say I'd agree there HC. First I play through a game for enjoyment and then if I like it enough I'll replay it. I've never 100%'d the trophies in any game. But I will say the notice of trophies in MGS4 just seems like a lot of fun

Trophies for Metal Gear Solid 4 will be included with an upcoming budget re-release in Japan for the PS3 along with a full-install feature (http://www.thebitbag.com/2012/07/12/metal-gear-solid-4-budget-rerelease-fullinstall-feature/) patch. Both patches will be made available to other region — as to when, we believe it should be on the same day as the budget re-release.

Hell yeah.

I liked to use the install as a chance to take that 15 minute break they kept going on about during it........ I've also taken consideration when smoking in public, weird huh?

Yeah, I read that, WK. However, all I can see is a third party's speculation over the patch adding full install support.

While I agree that it sounds very probable, it's not really an official confirmation.

So the trophy and full install patch was uploaded yesterday, Some really silly trophies in there, but looks like it could amount to some fun!

I've already played MGS4 to death but whenever I go back to it this will be very pleasant.

Not as hyped for full install. For one, I loved taking a break from the intense action to share a smoke with Old Snake. I don't smoke anymore, but whatever the total install size comes out to, I already know there's no room on my 60GB hard drive for it.

I love how they make the trophies not so bad until you think about them. I'll never get them all :(

The Full install isn't hereditary, can choose to do it or not, and it only took me 15 minutes to install the whole thing, so that wasn't too bad.

Yeah seriously. The full install only ended up at 8 GB for me. That would have been unproblematic even on my 40GB PS3. I was expecting something like 15-20 GB.

I am also supporting your post. I don't think that its the trophies that make use to flow through the levels. They are inspiration to explore more on each game.
